The role is for a QA tester/engineer - will be responsible for analysing, scoping, and executing Test sets/cases manually both in functional and regression.

    • There will also be a requirement to be a point of contact for areas of SIT and UAT testing with the relevant business lines.
    • However, we do encourage resources to broaden their skillsets and experiences, becoming more cross functional and thrive in the profession, and since this is an engineering role, would be involved in QA automated engineering.

    The Market Data platform

    • Is used in LCH to manage and maintains most of the instrument market data and reference data used within the organisation.
    • The Market Data platform is part of the shared services area so gets exposure to many business areas and instruments, and as well as being a shared service, it is a critical service for the business lines to function.

    The product

    • Is based off Alveotech (formally Asset Control), which is a third-party application.
    • The core application is built using the core Alveotech functionality as well as Perl, Python, shell script and Java. A scheduler is also used to drive some of the core processes, using Control-m, which is a third-party application.
    • The application uses MQ and REST API services to integrate with the business lines.

    The team

    • Has recently moved towards a more Agile way of working and is adapting more core Agile principles, so the team is mostly made up of squads.
    • The squads are typically made up of QA testing skills, QA automation development skills, software development skills, Business analyst skills, and DevOps skills.
    • However, there are instances when squads are made up of very focused skillsets such as Cloud Engineering. There are resources that are not part of the core squad resources, which is generally the senior management.

    The QA Automation

    • Is built using cucumber and java technologies, triggered using dedicated Jenkins pipelines.
    • There are several tools that are used to perform core processes and activities such as JIRA, GIT for source control, Jenkins pipelines, Nexus repository, HashiCorp Vault, and Ansible to manage our deployments, package builds, among others.
    • The application is nearing its end of the AWS migration journey so is using other more Cloud based technologies such as Terraform, Packer and AWS technologies.

    Key responsibilities:

    • Execution of functional, end-user, UAT business tests.
    • To create and maintain test data concerning test in the plan for execution.
    • To write detailed reusable test cases, ensuring they represent the full set of functionalities being tested
    • To execute test cases as per the test.
    • Record and analyse test results, instigate, and progress error procedures for any defects found.
    • Clear vision and adoption of testing best practices.
    • Act as a point of reference for business user test teams during their testing phases.
    • Escalation of risks and working proactively to resolve issues where necessary.
    • Bring pragmatic thinking to drive up testing for both functional & automation.
    • Get into the details, be hands on and find the biggest challenges in our current process and innovate solutions to improve productivity and quality of testing.
    • Adhere to Test strategy guidelines, and processes when applicable
    • Playing a major role in carrying out day to day responsibilities of testing, to ensure the delivery of the new technology on time and with minimal risk to BAU
    • Raise defects, manage, and report updates, retest and review issues and requirement variations.
    • Use Jira to record results per strategy guidelines and adapt to frequent variations in results gathering.

    Essential experience:

    • Over 2 years test/quality analysis experience in a financial organisation
    • Experience working in scrum methods (Agile)
