    As an Operational Buyer you will focus on the tactical implementation of the procurement strategies defined in Corporate Commodity Management and based on the commodity strategy. You focus on internal customers and partners that cannot be successful without your contribution, timeliness and transparency. You work in a highly motivated team with a "doer" attitude where you help and support each other. You will solve short term/daily issues and create tremendous value for our factories and customers. In parallel, you will work with global commodity management teams to develop and implement long-term improvement and development projects. You will become an expert in tactical execution, acceleration and supply chain performance management..


    How you can make an impact

    • Work closely with global and local commodity managements and manufacturing sites to achieve maximum effectiveness in planning, aligning and executing sourcing activities.
    • Select supplier based on agreed guidelines (qualification status, long-term agreement status, raw material strategy, supplier performance, etc.).
    • Continuous monitoring of own procurement list, creation and updating of purchase orders, follow-up of execution such as order confirmation, progress, compliance with quality requirements.
    • Support and ensure compliance with transportation and customs requirements in close collaboration with the logistics team
    • Management of contract management related functions for own goods (claim management, clarification of conditions)
    • Continuous improvement of procurement-related processes and their execution, continuous improvement of own supplier base.
    • Implement Commodity strategies to ensure long-term, cost-efficient supply of materials.
    • Support implementation and usage of globally defined methods, processes and systems to ensure high process efficiency and process compliance (e.g. compliant Purchase-to-Pay (P2P) process, Procurement guidelines, IT systems, etc.)
    • Define and implement Procurement strategies (which are not covered by Commodity strategies) based on conducted demand, market and supplier analysis to ensure long-term, cost-efficient and reliable on-time supply of materials in the required quality.
    • Prepare and conduct negotiations for low to medium purchasing volumes to obtain highest feasible savings.
    • Generate, document, and implement savings, (e.g. CNI; plan, monitor, and report on relevant KPI to contribute to the success of the business) and make results transparent.
    • Support Supplier Management processes (e.g. qualification, selection, evaluation, on-boarding, development, etc.)
    • Collaborate with Commodity Management to continuously drive the development of the supply base (Supplier selection, incl. documentation and communication of strategic suppliers, regular supplier and strategic evaluations, supplier classifications and supplier development to obtain and develop the best suppliers)
    • Identify potential solutions and/or use cases to increase digitalization and automation within procurement activities
    • Be an interface to R&D, Project Procurement, Project Management, Sales & Proposal, Cost-Value Engineering, and Supplier Quality Management
    • Follow up with suppliers in regard to NCC costs.
    • Ensure a close collaboration with internal customers (requisitioners) to ensure customer care and early involvement


    What you bring

    • Completed studies in the field of business administration, (industrial) engineering, mechanical engineering or comparable
    • Several years of professional experience in purchasing
    • Ability to communicate and work in a team, flexible approach to work
    • Confident handling of SAP (purchasing modules) and common MS Office applications
    • Planning and organizational skills, pragmatic, solution-oriented approach, hands-on mentality
    • Ability to facilitate and cultivate a cooperative approach beyond your own organizational unit & function
    • Knowledge of procurement strategies on different material fields
    • Knowledge of contract templates with the ability to adjust them to more complex contract situations when required.
    • Ability to recognize deviations from contract templates and coordinate adjustments with Legal if/when necessary.
    • Detailed understanding of legal terms and their influence on the business relationships.
    • Critical thinking and strong analytical skills
    • Ability to independently prepare and carry out mid-complex negotiations (incl. negotiation strategy, max/min goal, fallback position, role allocation, target costing).
    • Ability to calculate and compare the cost line of supplier offers as decision criteria for optional advance negotiations and e-Auction designs.
    • Adherence to process requirements in terms of compliance, is aware of the Business Conduct Guidelines and applies them in the day-to-day work.
    • Experience in managing exchange of information or complaints with colleagues and suppliers
    • Ability to evaluate the alternatives weighing up pros and cons and comparing the total impact of the courses of action.
    • Technical understanding (e.g. DIN and Siemens Energy standards, reading drawings, technical delivery specifications)
    • Excellent English language skills, German language skills desirable
    • Travel percentage ~10%
