About you:
You are a dynamic, skilled leader with a passion for technology and a keen sense of pride in your work. You have experience leading a team delivering high-quality projects with different technologies, driving automation and integrated solutions forward. You have proven abilities in organizing development teams to success, building team relationships and guiding approach.

As a well-rounded Engineering Team Lead, your Core Competencies likely include:
Strong background in Java, Java/Jakarta EE, ORMs (Hibernate preferred), Spring, SaaS
Experience with Microsoft Azure, MS SQL Server, REACT, JSP, GITflow, automation and unit testing.
Motivate and lead the squad, driving high performance and supporting the squad to upskill and achieve their potential.
Ensure the squad can produce high-quality, clean, self-documenting code that is well-structured, well-named, simple and easy to read.
Stay up to date with the latest technology, patterns and practices.
Able to manage/mitigate release and program risks in addition to isolated risks, through: environment recommendations, codebase recommendations, process and approaches; as well as prioritisation of testing.
Provide excellent guidance and advice on soft skill, development approaches and test-centric matters.
Proactively discuss performance against role responsibilities, competencies and objectives and proactively set any required remedial courses of action - which is then monitored and managed with the individual.

Day-to-day, you will:
​Ensure squad designs and develops software solutions to meet agreed acceptance criteria and stories using a range of languages and technologies. Ensures engineering standards are established, known and followed within agile team.
Lead a small Agile squad, driving technical excellence throughout the development process, and taking accountability for the deliverables of the engineering squad.
Be responsible for squad's conformance to quality gates, and any rectification plans if these are not met.
Proactively manage Roadmap with squad and Product Manager, demonstrating good understanding of technical, commercial and risk factors, and recommending priorities.
Participate in requirements analysis: highlights omissions and gaps; pro-actively contribute to discussions; and understand the scope, risk and complexity of changes by challenging and providing feedback to the stories and acceptance criteria.
Disseminate key metrics to communicate progress, risks, quality stats and engineering areas for iterations and releases.
Have availability for on-call rota for the infrastructure and the application
