Senior Observability Engineer

Overview

We are looking for an experienced DevOps, Site Reliability Engineers or Platform Engineer who is eager to join us on a journey to build a world-class observability team, using their experience and technological skills to help make us build the centralized observability team. In this role, you will be defining, delivering, managing monitoring & observability platform, standards, and practices.

Main Responsibilities

? Defining, delivering, managing monitoring & observability platform, standards, and practices.

? Maintain essential IT operations, including operating systems, security requirement, applications, software, and hardware.

? Analyze department needs, identify vulnerabilities, and boost productivity, efficiency, and accuracy to advise business decisions.

? Continuously analyze current processes, technologies, and resources to identify areas of improvement.

? Analyzes sophisticated systems, including crafting, evaluating, and implementing software-based solutions for infrastructure / site monitoring of availability, latency, performance telemetry; as well as solutions for capacity planning, change management, emergency response planning, and efficiency.

? Work under direction of leadership, detailing the technical requirements and specifications vital to acquire and implement solutions.

Required Skills

? Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in computer science or other highly technical, scientific team.

? Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

? Expertise with implementing and maintain Log management such as SyslogNG, ELK, Splunk.

? Expertise with implementing and maintaining various Monitoring/Observability platforms such as MicroFocus Operations Bridge Manager, BMC Truesight, DataDog, BigPanda.

? Expertise with implementing, configuring, and testing Monitoring and/or Observability platform.

? Expertise with CI/CD development pipeline such as GitLab, Jenkins, GitHub, or similar development tools.

? Experience operating, crafting, and building large scale, enterprise/production grade systems.

? Experience with evaluating, deploying, operating, and solving a variety of monitoring and observability frameworks like ELK stack, RabbitMQ, Sensu, Graphite, Grafana, Nagios, Prometheus.

? Experience with Unix/Linux (shell), Windows Server Administrative and scripting.

? Experience with Agile practices and tooling such as Daily standup, Retrospective, Kanban, Scrum, Jira.

Nice to have

? Monitoring: SyslogNG, Microfocus OBM, BMC Truesight.

? Automation: Gitlab Enterprise, Ansible, Puppet.

? Strong creative and analytical thinking.

? Understands large scale private cloud/data center networking.

? Cloud: Azure, AWS.
