Mechanical Computation Engineer

A Snapshot of Your Day:

As part of Grid technologies research department, you will independently carry out analytical and numerical analyses to evaluate component load-bearing capacity in structural mechanics and dynamics. You develop calculation methods and carry out basic tests, directly supporting the development of our high-voltage products. You will work with colleagues from with the test fields, from projects development and also with the company's external partners.

How you will make an Impact:

• Carrying out structural analyses and strength assessments of components analytically as well as by means of FEM
• Implementation of optimization measures to increase component strength, weight reduction and damage tolerance
• Preparation of standard and standard-compliant strength verifications
• New and further development of simulation tools and calculation methods, including the creation of macros
• Familiarization with standards and regulations.
• Collaboration and support of development and customer projects
• Support in the planning of qualification tests of high-voltage switchgear and its components
• Development of technical solutions in cooperation with the respective projects.
• Documentation and communication of calculation results
• Comparison of test and simulation results
• Supervision of basic experiments.

What you Bring:

• Completed studies in mechanical engineering, physics or comparable courses of study
• +5 years' experience in static and dynamic strength calculation using FEM
• Practical experience with FEM programs, ideally ANSYS
• Analytical skills and a systematic way of working to solve complex tasks
• Strong teamwork and communication skills
• Analytical, structured and goal-oriented way of working
• Fluent in English, in German is an advantage
