Key Responsibilities
- This role will have technical responsibility to build core functional and non-functional test automation frameworks to achieve, sustain, and constantly improve on our trading and shared technology platforms performance, resilience, agility and manageability.
- This role will introduce and develop sustainable use of testing techniques and use of appropriate functional and non-functional test frameworks and tool-chains.
- Expected to provide deep industry knowledge on prevalent and novel testing techniques in use to test sub-microsecond response times in electronic trading systems.
- Oversee all aspects of testing for Trading and Shared Technology Platforms including establishing metrics, applying industry best practices, and developing new tools and processes to ensure quality goals are met.
- Act as key point of contact for all testing for releases, providing QA services and coordinating QA resources internally and externally.
- Assist in generation of use cases to ensure that all requirements of a system are captured during the product design phase.
- Define test methods and create test plans for new or updated software projects to determine if the software will perform accurately and reliably according to documented requirements as well as established standards under both normal and abnormal condition
- Develop and execute test cases, scripts, plans and procedures (manual and automated) and create test reports to describe program evaluation, testing, and correction.
- Responsible for assuring that output from the process includes adequate identification and interpretation of product requirements, such as a) traceability requirements, b) test requirements, c) usability, etc.
- Ensure appropriate scheduling of software quality resources/personnel to projects.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience required
- Extensive experience of full lifecycle delivery of trading applications in Tier 1 firms.
- Minimum 10+ years experience in a similar role working in Tier 1 investment banks, financial institutions or financial data vendors. Candidates with similar experience in other industries will also be taken into consideration.
- Understanding of Capital Markets Domain (Equities or FX)
- Proven experience of building automation frameworks for complex trading systems from scratch using industry standard protocols
- Have significant people leadership skills and to manage large organisation
- Deep experience in software to interface to trading venues using exchange native protocols.
- Strong multi-threading, concurrency and memory management
- Proven experience in co-ordinating or working with global QA teams.
- Strong technology background and experience in complex, business critical real time information systems.
- Strong relationship management skills working with business stakeholders.
- Flexibility to work on weekends as and when required.
- Comfortable working with both internally developed systems and vendor produced systems.
