Java Developer (Scala)
You'll be joining our FX Trade Advanced Analytics team as a Lead Developer. We're responsible for building and delivering complex Big Data analytic applications across our regulated FX trading venues.
You will be responsible for the design and implementation of new analytic application capabilities inside our overall BI ecosystem. As such, you will need strong technical abilities, be able to quickly grasp and contribute to existing codebases and express design concepts with a good understanding of functional programming paradigms.
As a senior developer you will be responsible for engineering solutions, upholding rigorous quality standards, contributing to Agile Scrum processes and at times interacting directly with our product stakeholders.
Under general direction the selected candidate will serve as the Database Developer responsible for developing, supporting Data and Analytic financial applications. We are looking for a person that wants to contribute to a robust team of developers, and continuously deepen skills.
5+ years of strong experience in core Java and related technologies in a Unix/Linux environment
Experience in troubleshooting, debugging, and optimizing Java applications
Experience working with Oracle and Hadoop
Solid foundation in data structures, algorithms, and software design with strong analytical and debugging skills
Solid knowledge of relational database design and development (SQL, stored procedures, data modeling) and understanding of NoSQL databases
Experience using web servers, caching technologies, application containers
Ability to work as part of a team and individually with a self-starter ("can do") attitude
Additional Skills and Experience
Experience working in Agile Scrum methodologies
Experience working with Business Intelligence (BI) reporting using Tableau and Business Objects
Proficient with version-control solutions such as Git or SVN
Some knowledge of HDFS, Hive, Impala and HBase is a plus
Experience in the finance industry or knowledge of financial products is a plus
