Index Management Services - Development Manager

Development Manager in the Index Refactoring Programme supporting the Index Management Services team, the individual will be responsible for building and mentoring a team of developers to implement solutions to support the strategic growth of the Index business. ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES Designs, develops, and delivers software solutions that align with architecture, operational and risk processes Identifies, prioritises, and executes tasks in the software development life cycle Develops tools and applications by producing clean, efficient code Automates tasks through appropriate tools and scripting Ensures high quality product through the validation and verification testing of functional and non-functional requirements Supports and develops team members by providing advice, coaching and development opportunities Maintains accountability for the work product. Collaborates with internal teams (including Product Owners/Business and other tech teams) and vendors to fix and improve products Communicates with clarity, precision, and influence, presenting complex information in a concise format that is audience appropriate Maintain balance between hands on role and managerial tasks - gradually decreasing coding function and the team scales Partake in recruitment process and build up a development team Ensures adherence to company governance MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS Degree in Computer Science or Electronics / Electrical Engineering, or equivalent Minimum of 5 years' experience in software development methodologies and Agile based delivery Proven experience in test driven development - unit, component, integration, and automation to support modern DevOps principles Extensive knowledge of one or more programming languages, third party software products and expertise in - Java, RESTful API, Microservices - Spring Boot Experience in In-memory caching (Redis), performance tuning, Apache Kafka, SQL server, AWS or Azure preferred Some experience of Business and Technical Analysis Strong verbal and written communication skills Previous leadership position preferred Business / Sector expertise Experience in financial services with an understanding of financial market data would be beneficial Leadership & management experience Good previous experience in building and managing a team of developers and testers is essential The candidate will have dual reporting into Manager, Services based in London and Manager, Index based in Bucharest with Shared Technology division We are looking for intellectually curious people, passionate about the bigger picture of how technology industry is evolving, ready to ask difficult questions and deal with complicated scenarios.
