Engineer, Windows Operations

The role is for a Windows Operations Support Engineer, which will also require elements of application support for the Go Anywhere Managed File Transfer application which is running on windows.

The role will be a 50/50 split between Windows Operations and MFT Application Support. The candidate will be required to support and maintain current operating systems and servers and some database support may also be required. Prior knowledge of MFT is not necessarily required as internal training will be provided. However, a good understanding of SFTP & FTP protocols is desirable.

Although this is an operational role, there will also be a requirement to assist in project work.

Key Responsibilities:

• Performs proactive maintenance and management of servers
• Provides assistance during incidents to minimise incident impact
• Provide on call support via a rota
• Liaising with business users to review incidents, support and changes
• Ensure that all operational responsibilities are performed including regular checks, monitoring systems, deploying releases and service requests
• Develop an understanding of procedures and SLAs for all services supported by the team
• Proactively identify operational risks. Provide short term solutions whilst tracking long term resolution
• Provide effective escalation and resolution of issues and problems to line management
• Reduce the number of recurring technical issues
• Gain an in-depth knowledge for all LSEG business processes
• Assist with out of hours / weekend changes
• Work with other IT teams and across silos

Candidate Background and Skillset

• Educated and holding a degree level qualification (preferably in an IT discipline)
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Proven ability to share information and work individually or as part of a team to solve problems
• Excellent investigation and troubleshooting skills of complex issues
• Able to take direction from others when needed and not afraid to ask for help
• Ability to learn new concepts and products with ease and enjoys the challenge of developing something unfamiliar
• Ability to work under pressure to meet challenging deadlines

  • Active Directory, Group Policy & DNS
  • Windows Clustering
  • Poweshell
• Transfer Protocals SFTP, FTP;
  • Understading certification and SSL authentication
  • Intermediate experience of SQL Server.
• MFT system knowledge
  • Understanding of Go Anywhere MFT Application if possile (training will be provided)
• Additional skills
  • Understanding of JAVA, Tomcat.
  • Understanding workflows
