    Requirements

    We are looking for a Senior database Administrator to join the London Stock Exchange team in Bucharest. The Oracle Database Engineer will provide production and development support for all LSEG Oracle database applications. This includes designing database systems in accordance with industry best practices and ensuring these systems are maintained to these standards.

    The Database Engineer will design, document the strategies for backup and recovery, performance analysis, clustering, data management and user and developer assistance, and also be a point of escalation.

    Candidate Profile/ Key Skills:

    •Supporting mission critical environments on at least 2 of the following RDBMS technologies:◦Mandatory: Oracle 10 g, 11g, 12c (RAC, ODG, RMAN, Exadata, performance&tuning);
    ◦Nice to have: Postgresql/EDB 9, 10 (pg_rman, BART, database replica, OS Clustering) and SAP Hana;

    •Good knowledge of Linux/Unix, Solaris and Windows Operative Systems;
    •Advanced knowledge of at least 3 of the following languages: SQL sever (2008-2017); PL/SQL; Shell scripting;
    •Knowledge of Perl or Phyton is a nice-to-have;
    •Graduate Degree in Information Technology / Maths / Physics / Statistics / Engineering or an equivalent working experience;
    •Excellent verbal and written skills;
    •Excellent problem solving skills and pragmatic approach;
    •A proactive attitude;
    •The ability to liaise with different levels of staff within the organisation;
    •Good team player, must be motivated to progress in the role and willing to share experience/ knowledge;
    •Self starter with the ability to plan and manage work according to deadlines.

    Responsibilities

    Key responsibilities for this role are:

    •Develop and maintain database build standards including security to industry standards, patching and high availability;
    •Monitor and manage database resources to ensure optimum performance;
    •Document and manage database server procedures such as backup and restore, upgrades and disaster recovery procedures;
    •Undertake maintenance and upgrades, generally out of normal business hours including weekends;
    •Provide database design support to development projects;
    •Performance tuning and diagnostics, query plan analysis and the use of AWR;
    •Review database application code and advise accordingly;
    •Manage and maintain the source code control system for the database objects;
    •Assist Unix administrators as necessary to support applications that use the databases, e.g. Weblogic Application Server, Apache server;
    •Develop and maintain a strategy for database management to include both manual procedures/spot checks and automated alerts;
    •Assist IT Security in maintaining an appropriate database security policy. Evaluate and implement applications to ‘police’ adherence to policy.
