· You have passion for automation and material handling systems, working with high safety standards.

· BSc degree mechatronics / electromechanical Engineering, and/or practical experience in the field of automation controls or software engineering. You have a solid understanding of information systems and engineering theory.

· You have followed trainings on latest machine directives standards, and you continuously work in upgrading your knowledge through trainings (SCADA, PLC, CAD…).

· 10+ years’ experience designing & implementing automated warehouses involving conveyors, ASRS, G2P, sorting systems

· Your excellent knowledge of the landscape and possibilities of automation suppliers.

· Solid understanding of the project life cycle of automated material handling systems and equipment.

· You have the ability to grow the team in terms of knowledge and attitude.

· You are willing to travel in BeNelux in relation to different projects / customers.

· You are familiar and able to work in a matrix organization, you work together with cross-functional teams, and you are able to lead these teams for the duration of your project, including vendors.

· You take personal responsibility for the development and implementation of your technical projects.

· You are fluent in English.

· You will be involved in pre-conceptual design and conceptual design of automated solutions.

· You will be responsible to steer the vendor selection process by giving final approval or sharing showstoppers.

· Together with the procurement team you’ll have an active role in drawing up supplier contracts, with a focus on technical solution specification, output and throughput, KPIs, acceptance criteria and tests. You use your experience to challenge the vendor milestone planning.

· As automation lead you will ensure that the concept design is translated in a viable implementable detailed design.

· With the integrator/s you ensure the correct systems’ functional specifications and interface specifications are defined and delivered.

· You will follow up from installation to PLC testing/commissioning (interface if needed) and after care

· You will be coordinating and participating (together with the Integrator and local KN team) in Factory Acceptance testing, System Integration test, User Acceptance test and DILO relative to the project.

· You ensure structured communication between internal and external project stakeholders, motivating them to achieve strong results.

· You ensure automation projects are successfully implemented, ensuring correct knowledge ownership in the running operations; ensuring the vendor delivers according to contractual expectations.

· In case of structural operational problems or need for changes you guide the internal stakeholders and the supplier in the approach towards improvements and desired results.

· You will contribute to lifting the knowledge and standard of your colleagues in Engineering & Technical services.

· You will increase the standardization of automation solutions to increase speed in answering to customer needs/requirements.
