Market Data Senior Java Engineer

Overview

The Market Data platform is used in LCH to manage and maintain most of the instrument market data and reference data used within the organisation. The Market Data platform is part of the shared services area so gets exposure to many business areas and instruments, and as well as being a shared service, it is a critical service for the business lines to function.

The base product is based off Alveotech (formally Asset Control), which is a third-party application. The core application is built using the core Alveotech functionality as well as Perl, Python, shell script and Java. The QA Automation is built using cucumber and java technologies, triggered using dedicated Jenkins pipelines. There are several tools that are used to perform core processes and activities such as JIRA, GIT for source control, Jenkins pipelines, Nexus repository, HashiCorp Vault, and Ansible to manage our deployments, package builds, among others. The application is nearing its end of the AWS migration journey so is using other more Cloud based technologies such as Terraform, Packer and AWS technologies.

The role is for a Senior Software Engineer so will be responsible for producing and implementing functional software solutions, working with developers to define software requirements on operational and technical projects.

Key responsibilities:

• Build robust project requirements into the Market Data system, using base product where possible and sensible, whilst maintaining a stable codebase.
• Work closely with the Team to assist with any queries and concerns around developed solutions and designs.
• Document work in Jira, and link to code changes in GIT.
• Update documentation/wiki (support guides, user guides).
• Communicate and assist other team members when required.
• Third line support when required.
• Oversee the design work and planning for user journeys ensuring the achieve the desired objectives.
• Support the creation of solutions for Epics and the associated implementation tasks.
• Adapt existing patterns to develop robust solutions.
• Communicate complex information clearly to relevant audiences.

Essential experience and skills:

• 3+ years experience as a Java software engineer
• Fluent with functional, imperative, and object-oriented languages such as Java
• Experience working with Scripting languages.
• Experience working in scrum methods (Agile)
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
• Excellent organization and time management skills

Desired experience and skills:

• Front end engineering experience e.g. React
• Experience working in scrum methods (Agile) and Agile principles.
• Experience with mission-critical 24*7 systems
• Experience working in a Market Data team.
