Junior Java Developer

We are looking for Java Developer to join ForexClear IT Development team. This is an excellent opportunity to join one of LSEG's fastest growing entities and is embarking on a public cloud migration.

The candidate must have a Computer Science orientated degree and Java development skills. Someone who is intellectually curious, passionate about the bigger picture of how technology industry is evolving, ready to ask difficult questions and deal with complicated scenarios. Role Summary

• As a member of the team, they will work on delivery of projects, carry out enhancements and provide support on a highly critical clearing system.
• Individual must be disciplined in adhering to the company standards in development, testing and change governance
• They will collaborate closely and coordinate with business users and other technology areas
• Demonstrate you are highly motivated to learn, solve problems and grow their skills. They will require excellent communication skills to work collaboratively both within the team and across the wider organization to deliver outstanding solutions.

What you'll be doing:

• Building and improving complex and enticing java applications.
• May be require to provide O/N support on rare occasions.
• Developing on a highly critical platform that is systemic to the financial markets (equivalence of a nuclear plant).
• Chip in towards design solutions that can sustain our high computation and low latency business requirements.
• Work alongside quants, business analysis and product owners to drive the right solution
• Help drive our agile philosophy
• Accountable for project delivery from inception to production, including budget, timelines and technical debt

What you'll bring:

Key Skills

• Suitable for a graduate
• 0-1 Years experience in hands-on commercial software development or relevant computer science degree or verifiable experience
• Awareness of Agile/Scrum development practices and principles focusing on writing high-performance, clean, quality code
• Experience of delivering value within a team
• Development concepts and core Java programming skills
• Exposure to some aspects of software development gained and the project life cycle
• Java 11+
• Understanding of the SDLC, awareness of either Object Orientated or Functional programming.
• Linux, shell scripting
• Unit testing
• Excellent communication and collaboration using both verbal and written skills.
• Development of maintenance procedures and processes for functional deliveries to remove key person dependencies
• Ability to collaborate with others within the team to find the best way to resolve a technological, infrastructure, security or development issue.
• Understand the need to build resilient, robust and secure solutions which are easy and cost effective to evolve with new technologies over time

Desirable Skills

• Experience of finance or economics
• Understand relational databases
• Exposure to messaging and cloud technologies
