    Requirements

    Additionally, you will be providing 3rd level support to the Video team with complex issues. This position will be also developing the end to end service assurance and will be furthermore involved in DevOps, hence it’s essential to have programming and scripting skills.

    Key Responsibilities


    • Determines operational feasibility by evaluating analysis, problem definition, requirements, solution development, and proposed solutions.
    • Improves operations by conducting systems analysis, recommending changes in policies and procedures.
    • Provide expertise in the analysis of major incident root causes and follow up with vendors and other Corporate teams as needed
    • Identify software bugs, perform root cause analysis on performance issues as needed.
    • Work closely with the Level 1/Level 2 team on incidents in the affiliate and provide direct follow-up to the vendor if required.
    • Provide inputs to engineering teams concerning the performance and capacity of the interactive platform in production.
    • Work closely with the network operations centre to set the requirements for alarm management.
    • Monitor and test system performance; prepare and deliver system performance statistics and reports.


    Project Contribution

    • Participate in review activities (project plans, requirement, design and test case) to assume joint responsibility with other team members on quality and schedule
    • Define Operational requirements

    Service Monitoring Development/DevOps

    • When not active on incident support, help to materially improve the service assurance by initiating and managing projects.
    • Develop custom scripts for the automation of certain operational tasks and service monitoring of the Interactive Video solutions.
    • Good grasp of automation tools
    • Process re-engineering
    • Implementing service assurance improvements

    Context/Environment:

    • Position has a strong international focus with a significant customer base at every European country to which Liberty Global provides services.
    • Video Platforms managed are legacy (bare metal), hybrid (legacy & cloud-based solutions) and native cloud;




    Responsibilities

    Knowledge, Skills & Experience:
    • Experience in managing Cloud-native environments (IaaS; PaaS; SaaS) from at least one of the major providers (preferable AWS);
    • Strong knowledge of Linux
    • 5+ years of experience in Telecoms/ISP with Media (STB & OTT Platforms) domain experience
    • Should have 2 to 3 years of Development/Scripting (Python/Shell/Ruby) experience
    • Hands-on and Strong Knowledge of MySQL
    • Prior experience/knowledge on Microservices Architecture, Cassandra DB, Docker, Kubernetes and AWS
    • Systems management automation, monitoring, SNMP, JMX, Nagios.
    • Experience with at least one type of Java application environment, e.g. JBoss, Tomcat, Web-sphere.
    • Systems scripting, shell programming, Perl, Ruby
    • In-depth understanding of key technologies/concepts, such as: DNS, TCP/IP networking, HTTP/1.1, Caching, MySQL and MongoDB;
    • Good understanding of Network connectivity and standards
    • Good knowledge of internet-scale HTTP caching solutions
    • Experience with Video encoding and Video Encoding Standards (Understand GOP, iframe, MP2TS, etc…)
    • Deep knowledge of networks, including CDN setup and maintenance, setup and maintenance of web servers, video content flow to the Internet, firewalls, routing, subnets, TCP and UDP communications
    • Prior work experience or Knowledge of Kibana and Grafana.
    • Proven track record/experience working in a multi-layered international matrix organization
    • Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills in English. Knowledge of additional European languages is a plus.
    • Experience working with international teams (direct & indirect) from different cultural backgrounds and experience in managing external resources
    • Possible frequent travel during the year on a need-basis
    • Experience in handling several platforms/systems and ability to easily switch between them and keep the overview
    • Should be flexible enough to work in shifts and extended hours support during Critical P1/P2 Incidents
    • Strong communication skills to coordinate with multiple vendors across the Geographic locations for resolution of Critical incidents.
    • Strong analytical and Debugging knowledge on the production incidents from Dashboards/ Limited Logs
    • Strong and dynamic individual, with the ability to work under pressure
    • Should be flexible enough to work as an Individual contributor.
