Junior Software Engineer (Java)

About the Role

As part of the Global Engineering Tools team (GET) you will be the interface between our internal customers and our toolchain. You will offer support to our users and help them resolve their first and second-level requests. You will implement improvements to our DevOps environment and help our internal developers to streamline their CI/CD pipeline incorporating tools part of GET portfolios; Atlassian tools, DevOps Tools. and Interfaces, covering a wide range of activities from support to scripting and development. (Example of Atlassian tools like Jira, Confluence, Bamboo, Bitbucket, and/or Fisheye/Crucible.)

What You Will Do

• Support End-Users to resolve tool-related first and second level requests
• Implement automation and interfaces to interconnect our tools and enhance our CI/CD pipelines
• Consult projects on-site in incorporating our tools
• Analyze, conceptualize and implement solutions for the business, like enhanced reporting solutions or improved user behavior
• Develop script solutions incorporating different tool APIs
• Enhance user experience with self-reliant development of tool improvements
• Support the rollout of new processes, rules. and configuration updates in the context of the tool.
• Discuss solutions with requesters, peers, and leads, present your achievements to management
• Work closely with management, other team leads, development teams, vendors, and business stakeholders to provide cohesive solutions.

• Education: University degree in computer science (information technology)
• 1+ years experience with one or more Atlassian/DevOps Tools - ideally administrators experience
• 1+ years experience in JAVA.
• 1+ years experience in developing and debugging software in a heterogeneous environment (e.g. APIs, REST, Webservices). Hands-on experience configuring, implementing, and establishing solutions in tools, Continuous Integration, and Software Configuration Management
• Experience in working with XML, JSON
• Being able to independently research and implement solutions to unique challenges related to our tools
• Basic knowledge in scripting on Windows and Linux
• Excellent English skills (written and spoken)
• Strong interpersonal & communication skills
• Team Player with structured and logical thinking
• Ability to understand business processes and to translate into IT procedures
• Ability to write clear & concise specifications, documentation & methodologies
• Customer-oriented mindset
• Able to work under pressure, flexible, and focused during times of change

• Experience in C++, Python, Perl, Groovy.
• Experience using standard Project Management, SCRUM, and Agile methodologies
• Proven ability to tackle challenging projects
