EMEA & Australia VAT Controller

• Degree in business/economics, finance, accounting or any other related field;
• More than 5 years of relevant working experience;
• Very good competencies using Excel and the overall office package;

• Committed and highly motivated to achieving goals and tight deadlines
• Able to prioritize tasks with limited supervision

As our EMEA & Australia VAT Controller, you will be responsible for managing the EMEA VAT Team, ensuring effective monthly VAT compliance and coordination. Within this role, you will cover all EMEA and Australia Garrett Motion subsidiaries / VAT registrations across different countries. You will be in charge with driving a massive Flows mapping process together with Logistics & Trade compliance team to ensure a correct reporting from a VAT / Instrastat perspective.

• Reviews VAT return information from the accounting system
• Reviews the Calculation of the VAT recovery under the partial exemption method
• Checks relevant documents per conformity with local and international taxes regulations
• Ensures the overall company awareness of modification in VAT legislation.
• Supports the Sarbanes Oxley (SOX) Management and External Audit testing for VAT and other tax cycles
• Maintains the accuracy of VAT transactions on the accounting systems by
o checking the VAT rates,
o liaising with the relevant staff and
o Updating the VAT rules in a partially exempt organization
• Drives the implementation of new business, systems and processes, may participate in the SAP implementation of new businesses within EMEA
• Supports the Sarbanes Oxley (SOX) Management and External Audit testing for VAT and other tax cycles
• Reviews external reporting and tax workbooks for various legal entities
• Ensures compliance of the Finance Operating model and Accounting Policies
• Manage process performance to drive continuous improvement
• Identify / propose / actively support accounting / operational efficiency opportunities
• Reviews the Regular reconciliation of the VAT control accounts and records
• Assists and supports team members in their investigation of reconciling differences
