Internship Summary
Our Social Business project is designed to develop sustainable businesses that can provide sustainable wages to disadvantaged workers, thereby building the local community and preventing migration. The Social Business intern will be expected to develop existing plans for business start-ups and propose plans for new start-ups, provide marketing and economic analyses, and help develop training materials for potential employees. Up to now, we have done small projects of making and selling furniture, bags and purses, and also selling second-hand clothing. We are currently working on a greenhouse project. Our hope is that we can develop projects that generate revenue for our activities and provide employment opportunities for those in the neighborhood.

Qualifications/Education and Experience

• Currently studying for or graduated with business degree
• Other experience that seems applicable to the business (sewing, gardening, advertising, communications, etc.)
• Motivated and responsible individual able to work independently, take initiative, and meet deadlines
• Commitment to building relationships with and investing in the WMF Romania staff community
• Preferred: studies or experience with community development

Community Involvement
Interns will spend approx. 20 hrs a week on:

• Community prayer
• Formation reading and discussion
• Language acquisition
• Intentional interaction and service among the vulnerable

Terms and Conditions

• Worksite Location: Galati, Romania
• Full-time: 40 hours a week
• This is a support-based internship; staff commit to raising support for their salary and expenses
• Weekly Romanian language tutoring will be expected in order to fulfill responsibilities
