- Preparing structural feasibility options & complete assigned tasks to deadlines and carry out sketch designs on options and assist in compiling final document
- Working familiarity in designing to the latest Eurocodes
- To work with 3D CAD packages such as Tekla or Revit
- To work with 2D CAD packages such as AutoCAD
- Manage projects using applicable project management tools
- Follow in full the document control and QA processes relevant to project work, ensuring drawings, specifications, reports and correspondence are issued, and filed / archived in an appropriate manner
- Assist others in compiling design specification within given deadlines, including checking compliance with the project brief through calculation and cross reference of manufacturers literature; ensuring all relevant standards and guides are used as reference with the design specification
- Organise and carry out detailed structural designs to company and local legislation standards, ensuring safety in design, QA and technical review and sign off by project leader, including complex calculations and co-ordination issues
- Incorporate appropriate sustainability and health and safety into designs and project delivery
- Organise and undertake technical calculations to industry standards in conjunction with team members; supervise the work of team members to ensure the delegated work is completed to deadlines / standard and report to the project leader any issues, risks or client changes
- Prepare elemental work for project budget costing as delegated by senior members of the team, all to within agreed deadlines and standards
- Visit sites as required to review construction in line with design intent, report and advise about non-compliance issues and risks
- Deal with the day to day queries from site, ensuring that relevant information is available on time for construction activity
- Contribute to and question technical and construction issues and encourage and help the trainees to better understand the design process
- Determine appropriate software for Computer Aided Design, construct models and undertake analysis and manual checks
- Attend meetings as required
- Flag up business development and additional fee opportunities to team leader
- Develop positive professional relationship with client, communicating openly about project progress
- Participate in team meetings, disseminate information to the rest of the team, and effectively communicate with other teams
- Flag any project or business risk issues
- Flag resourcing concerns
- Assist colleagues to ensure team timelines are met
- Complete timesheet accurately ahead of weekly deadlines
