A QA Engineer at Optaros works side by side with the development team to test and verify software applications, assisting the team in achieving the desired quality in their products. Optaros is focused on building a true agile testing environment by making QA part of the full Software Development Life Cycle. In other words, QA is not something that comes last but something that starts with the QA and Development teams working together to understand and develop applications against acceptance criteria built on business requirements.
The QA Engineer will work closely with QA Testers, Developers and clients and will report to the QA Manager.

Responsibilities include:
Collaboration with developers in creating testable "Definition of Done" acceptance criteria
Designing tests that clearly convey the business rules and code they are checking so that both business users and developers can understand their intentions
Working with a QA Lead to develop project test plans
Communicating the QA plan, strategy and progress to clients
Executing performance tests
Working with the QA Lead or a Sr. QA Engineer to create reasonable level of effort estimates that balance business and technical needs
Educating and mentoring other team members on agile testing practices and tools
Managing defect tracking and defect maintenance and performing defect root cause analysis
Suggesting new tools and processes for the agile team
Openly participating in continuous practice improvement

2 - 4 years testing experience; writing, maintaining and executing test cases
Experience with software test automation required
Demonstrated knowledge of at least one automated testing framework (keyword or data-driven)
At least one year of previous development experience (Java, Python, PHP or similar) required.
Ability to work in a cross-functional team (Developers, Project Managers, Business Analysts, etc.)
Strong communication skills and the ability to clearly articulate the needs of the QA team on specific projects
Experience in agile testing/agile methodologies
Experience with defect management software, such as Jira
The confidence to ask the tough questions necessary to ensure continuous improvement
An interest in working alongside the development team, including occasional pairing
Ability to write and understand basic SQL queries to perform data verification and set up test data
Great attention to detail and strong communication skills
Web application testing experience strongly preferred
Must be fluent in English and Romanian, written and verbal communications
