We need expertise in the following key areas:
• Must have:
- Python and Linux experience; experience working with Apache and Mongo DB;
- Previous experience working in an Agile environment is a must;
• Nice to have:
- Amazon Cloudpoint;
- Amazon DNS (Route 53) and Load balancing (Elastic Load Balancing);
- Amazon Linux Elastic cloud scalling (EC2);
- Amazon content storage (S3) & Glacier;
- Proven application layer tools include Tornado, Redis, Nginx/Varnish for high transaction messaging;
- Google Analytics;
- Soft skills: Analytical thinking, ability to challenge, self-confidence, autonomy.

What will your role be?
Endava is working as development partner to a start-up that is creating a new social media platform aimed at sports industry.
The web application that underpins this solution is being written in python and will be hosted on AWS. The challenges that you’ll be facing in delivering this project will be:
• Creating a high-performing, scalable application that supports large volumes of concurrent connections and messages;
• Making good design decisions aimed at supporting the transition of the platform from alpha to beta and need to accommodate what is projected to be a rapid surge in usage;
• Be able to create APIs that allow the platform to be componentized, creating a common interface to the web application and protecting the front-end from change (allowing development teams to deliver at pace);
• Being comfortable with a range of technologies and styles (web server, database (NoSQL and RDBMS), pub/sub, AWS) and developing solutions incorporating these;
• Being flexible and getting behind the goal of building a platform that will be one of the premier social media platforms for sports.
• As Development Lead, you will:
- Participate in business specification reviews
- Contribute to logical and physical design of the product
- Solve technical problems
- Review and enforce the quality of code written within your team
- Document all work using required standards, methods and tools
