    Role description

    The Operations Manager within the Fraud department is responsible for handling fraud threats across the business. Their role is to enable successful operations by scaling and driving innovation as well as continuous improvement. The Operations Manager will work as a consensus builder, strategic thought partner and executor in collaboration with Supplier Fraud Management and CoE Leaders. They will be responsible for building and maintaining key cross-functional collaborations with other leaders and managers across the business and sister brands.

    Key Job Responsibilities and Duties

    Operations management

    • Be responsible for the end to end performance Metrics of the Fraud Ops team
    • Monitor and drive improvement of operational efficiency & excellence of the team
    • Set operational goals for the team that align with company priorities
    • Support analysts to develop and implement effective detection and prevention strategies to mitigate impact while ensuring appropriate balance between customer/partners experience, risk and operational costs
    • Undertake strategic workload analysis and support the team to prioritize in a practical way based on impact and risk
    • Take ownership of cross functional projects
    • Conduct regular Risk Assessments of the Fraud operations team and highlight the identified risk to senior management

    Strategic prioritization

    • Proactively identify issues, areas of enhancements which provide valuable insights and lead pivotal initiatives
    • Collaborate with engineering and influence the product roadmap
    • Act as an advisor to senior management and maintain focus on strategic priorities
    • Inform senior managers on tactical and strategic topics

    People management

    • Help drive culture initiatives that connect, engage, and encourage operational team members
    • Understand development needs and provide consistent, candid feedback (good, bad and indifferent), as well as technical and coaching advice
    • Enable professional and personal growth through supporting and challenging your team
    • Create a safe and open team environment where regular and constructive feedback is encouraged
    • Attract, hire, develop and retain talent from around the world, and contribute to Booking.com's growth through interviewing, on-boarding, or other recruitment efforts
    • Be an effective Change Manager, leading the team through periods of change, displaying motivating and encouraging behaviors
    • Solve problems and issues within the team
    • Build team resilience by focusing on overall team wellbeing

    Communication & Stakeholder Management

    • Gain agreement across the business through gathering input, exploring ideas and influencing towards the outcome that adds the most value to the business
    • Help to communicate priorities and act as a sounding board to the team and consultant to senior management
    • Present collaborator updates back to the team and provide visibility
    • Clear leader within the business and considered an expert in the field
    • Represent Booking.com at industry events and engage with vendors, partners and law enforcement agencies

    Incident management

    • Set up an Incident Management Process for the team
    • When needed, engage relevant parties and manage relevant collaborators such as PR, Legal, CS, LPS etc.

    Self-development

    • Actively seeks feedback and shows the ability to reflect on own behavior and performance
    • Act as a role model for learning and personal growth

    Role Qualifications and Requirements

    • Bachelor Degree
    • Five to eight years of relevant experience
    • Domain knowledge of Fraud/ Risk management/Incident Management (L4)
    • Experience handling and driving operations (L3)
    • Experience managing a team operations (L3)
    • Experience collaborating with Engineering teams and influencing their product roadmap (L3)
    • Capable of coaching & supporting others on project management and personal development (L3)
    • Strong decision making ability (L4)
    • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills and ability to effectively advise at all levels of the organization (L4)
    • Excellent time management skills and ability to prioritize appropriately in a fast paced and dynamic environment (L4)
    • Self-starter, hands-on and able to work independently (L4)
    • Trustworthy character and ability to manage confidential and highly sensitive information with the highest levels of discretion and professionalism (L4)
    • High level of accuracy and strong attention to detail with the right level of interpersonal and analytical skills as well as emotional intelligence (L4)
    • Strong commercial attitude (L4)
    • Knowledge of Google/Microsoft Suite, in particular Google Sheets, Excel, Google Slides, Google Docs (L3)
    • Knowledge of technical skills (SQL/Hadoop/ Python/Pandas).(L2)
