    Role description

    As Legal Counsel - Privacy (Procurement), you will be responsible for supporting the Procurement teams at Booking.com in close collaboration with the legal counsels within both the Privacy and Procurement legal teams. Your goal will be to build new value for the Procurement team and the business as a whole, by ensuring the company's privacy risks are minimized, while enabling important business objectives.. You will draw upon your legal and privacy knowledge, eye for business and excellent drafting and negotiating skills to provide on-the-ground support, coordinate across multiple priorities and business partners, and identify potential privacy issues and solutions, particularly in respect of agreements with our key and strategic vendors.

    You will:

    • be excellent at prioritizing and leading a diverse range of procurement agreements with a focus on privacy requirements;
    • coordinate the ownership of incoming contract reviews across a variety of teams and partners;
    • serve as a partner concern point and provide advice on privacy questions needed to unlock challenges and move our high profile and strategic commercial agreements forward;
    • draft, review and negotiate data processing agreements.
    • maintain and update our DPA templates, playbooks and provide training.
    Key Job Responsibilities and Duties
    • Work directly with the Procurement, Procurement legal team and the wider business as a reliable and commercially minded point of contact within the privacy legal department.
    • Draft and negotiate clear and commercially appropriate procurement agreements in respect of the business privacy requirements within agreed parameters and guidelines.
    • Be well structured, clear and organized, with an ability to prioritize and drive progress within a very fast paced environment.
    • Attend weekly priority meetings on behalf of the legal team.
    • Demonstrate a collaborative approach to getting the job done, providing and drawing on technical and specialist support from other members of the privacy legal team and Legal & Public Affairs function (where required) and with a range of partners both within the business and externally.
    • Build and deliver guidance documents and training material for teams within the business under the direction of the Senior Managing Counsel.
    • Stretch out to support other initiatives within the Privacy legal team, as capacity allows
    Role Qualifications and Requirements
    • EU law degree (NL, UK or US training is an advantage)
    • At least 3 years' experience in a reputable law firm and/or in-house team
    • Experience in privacy contract reviews: 2+ years
    • Experience in technology and/or marketing agreements
    • Native or fluent English speaking and writing skills
    • Excellent communication skills (written and oral)
    • Excellent drafting skills and attention to detail
    • Excellent organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines, prioritizing appropriately
    • Professional and collaborative approach
    • Proven understanding of and familiarity with using Microsoft Office applications (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) and Google Suite (Google Sheets, Google Docs)
