Senior Manager, Data Solutions Applications

Overview:

LSEG is on the lookout for a passionate Java Technology Lead (Senior Manager level) to join our hard-working team and contribute to the development of Java based applications in our AWS environments within Capital Market Data Solutions.

As a Java Technology Lead at LSEG, you'll play a crucial role in building and maintaining data focused applications running on AWS, focusing on creating a seamless data experience for Capital Markets.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and empower the team, driving the team to deliver excellence. This will translate to increased efficiency and the delivery of systems fulling the requirements, are highly resilient, within budget and on time
• Contribute to the design, development and maintenance of new products & features
• Work as part of a Scrum team, contributing to Agile processes to ensure we meet our business requirements
• Operate collaboratively with the wider team (including other developers, ADMs, QA engineers, DevOps, BAs, etc)
• Spearheading the design and implementation of development standards and best practices
• Contributing towards resolving bugs and production outages
• Manage and support on call responsibilities as required, to a pre-agreed schedule.
• Mentor and line manage a team of approximately 20 developers (both permanent staff and contractors)

Tools we use and what we expect:

• Java, Spring, Gradle: Craft resilient and scalable Java applications, using frameworks such as Spring
• Kafka & Kafka Connect: Drive innovation with Kafka and Kafka Connect for smooth data streaming processes
• AWS Mastery: Apply expertise in AWS services, including MSK, S3, EC2, and Lambda, to create a robust infrastructure
• Continuous Integration: Contribute to our agile environment with Jenkins or Puppet for CI/CD
• Apache Hadoop Ecosystem: Manage and contribute to the Kraken ecosystem, the FX data lake is supported by Spark, Hive and MapReduce Batch jobs, Impala for querying, Solr for searching, and HDFS for storage, layered on top of AWS resources

Required Skills:

• Proven Java development experience (Scala skills strongly encouraged)
• Familiarity with Kafka, Apache Hadoop Ecosystem and AWS services
• Proven leadership and stakeholder management skills
• Proficiency in Git, Bash scripting, and continuous integration with Jenkins or Puppet
• Proven SQL skills for database querying (familiarity with Snowflake is good to have).
