    About the Policy and Governance Team

    The Policy and Governance team is a first line function that supports the critical frameworks our business relies on and provides oversight, from Index Policy, Governance and Risk, to Regulatory and Business Compliance, Outsourcing and Incident Management. Our purpose is to drive greater coverage, consistency, and efficiency across the B&IS business given the growing focus on our regulatory obligations, the requirement to improve our risk management capabilities, and the need to ensure change programmes support the evolution of our benchmarks to meet market requirements.

    The Data Governance Officer will be responsible for developing and managing the data governance strategy across the Benchmarks and Index Solutions (B&IS) business. Ensuring compliance with the LSEG Group Data Policy & Standards is one of the key areas of focus. This will involve working with stakeholders across the business to define and implement data controls and metrics to support effective data stewardship. This role sits within the Policy and Governance team, reporting to the Head of Governance and Risk.

    Primary Responsibilities

    • Accountable for the design, implementation and management of the Benchmark & Index Solutions data governance framework
    • Ensuring compliance with the LSEG Group Data Policy & Standards
    • Effective communication of the data governance framework and responsibilities.
    • Works with accountable data owners to define accountabilities and escalation paths for data across the business
    • Working with the accountable data owners, establish data standards across Priority Datasets.
    • Review existing data controls and processes and agree improvements and monitors progress against agreed action plans.
    • Ensures weaknesses in processes are addressed, and co-ordinates with relevant teams to ensure evaluation of the impact of any proposed changes to systems and processes.
    • Prepares regular reports detailing the status of adherence of data controls against the LSEG Group Data Policy & Standards
    • Conducts data control assessments ensuring the effective implementation of corrective actions
    • Engages with internal and external audit and control providers to address audit and improvement findings as the need arises.
    • Liaises with second line Risk and Compliance functions on the appropriateness of data standards implemented by the business.
    • Develops and maintains policy documentation and materials to improve internal data controls and embed the framework
    • Participates in and facilitates data governance improvement projects and initiatives
    • Participates in investigations in order to identify data governance improvements, tracking through to implementation.

    Required Skills

    • Data Governance background within financial services is essential
    • Knowledge of indices is preferable
    • Data quality experience and of using 3rd party data
    • Understanding of Data Governance tooling
    • Reporting and data analysis; able to visually represent data and processes
    • Experience in delivering regulatory projects
    • Experience of using data lineage applications such as Solidatus would be an advantage
    • Strong track record of delivering successful projects and initiatives in a large, high-profile, and sophisticated global organizations
    • Experience working in a high-pressured, time-sensitive environment
    • Ability to work optimally with a broad range of stakeholders and lead change.
    • Strong influencing skills across both business and technology
    • Ability to think strategically and creatively, strong analytical and problem-solving skills
    • Ability to deliver against demanding deadlines and key milestones
    • GDPR and/or Data Privacy knowledge would be a benefit
    • Experience of working in a regulated environment is desirable
    • Well organised with strong verbal and written communication skills
