Senior Software Developer- Capital Markets

Role Profile

The Senior Murex Developer role is working as a core member of the SwapClear Murex development team, working on the implementation of releases of new functionality and enhancements for the SwapClear platform.

The successful candidate should have a good technical ability in coding and an appreciation of financial markets, preferably in Interest Rate Derivatives (swaps). Hands on experience and technical competence with Java (or C, C++, C#) to demonstrate coding ability, and SQL is essential for the successful candidate.

Whilst previous experience on Murex is beneficial, candidates with a strong coding ability and compatible experience within financial services / products will be readily considered and are encouraged to apply. The successful candidate will be trained up on Murex platform modules utilised by SwapClear, therefore the role offers an excellent opportunity to work within the capital markets on Murex.

The work is technical and hands on, with implementing technologies of Murex, XML / XSL, SQL, Java and Groovy. Automated testing of changes made on the platform are implemented via our Java based SIT tooling stack, with the tests written in Java using Junit 5. The successful candidate must have a strong desire to both write code and be involved in the technical details of each solution.

Further technical areas include use of Git for version control and modern DevOps practices, along with use of Jira for issue tracking.

A strong desire to learn in a rapid work environment is essential, along with good communication and team skills.

SwapClear is the world's leading Interest Rate Derivatives clearing platform, Murex is positioned at the heart of the platform, clearing the majority of the worlds clearable swap trades on a daily basis.

• 5-8+ years' experience in Java (or C, C++, C#) to demonstrate technical coding ability. (Alternatively, 5-8+ years' development experience on the Murex or similar platform)

• Knowledge of financial products (Interest Rate Derivatives), pricing, sensitivities, usage of curves, market data, VaR, stress testing.

• Experience on modules within the Murex platform beneficial, but not essential.

• The ability to write SQL, exposure to Oracle DB or similar.

• Good understanding of XML, ideally exposure to XSL.

• Understanding of MxML / FpML is beneficial, though not essential.

• JUnit 5 or TestNG experience beneficial.

• Ability to operate within a cross functional team, working closely with a wide range of people from different disciplines.

• Experience in Agile software development and DevOps practices is beneficial, though not essential.

• Good verbal and written communication skills, both formal and informal. Ability to articulate well, listen to and process constructive feedback before adapting and refining the solutions and designs in response.

• Appreciation of financial markets, ideally of Interest Rate Derivatives (swaps). Training will be given as required to bring the successful candidate up to speed.

• Working knowledge of source control with git.

• Experience using Linux at the command line basic shell scripting is useful.
