    Overview:

    We are seeking an experienced Senior Kubernetes Engineer to lead our dynamic Kubernetes Platform Team. As a Senior Kubernetes Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in architecting, designing, and implementing our Kubernetes-based cloud infrastructure, and will use your expertise in Linux, Python, containers and Kubernetes to drive innovation, scalability, and reliability across our platform.

    About the role:

    Kubernetes Architecture and Design:

    • Lead the design and implementation of scalable and resilient Kubernetes clusters.
    • Architect solutions for high availability, disaster recovery, and auto-scaling.
    • Evaluate and integrate new Kubernetes features and technologies to enhance platform capabilities.
    • Drive innovation and best practices in cloud infrastructure design and implementation.
    • Adopt a secure by design approach.

    Container Orchestration:

    • Drive a cloud native approach for containerisation and Kubernetes orchestration, using standard methodologies.
    • Optimize container performance and resource utilisation.
    • Implement and maintain Kubernetes Operators for automating complex application management tasks.

    Infrastructure Automation:

    • Design and implement infrastructure as code solutions using tools such as Terraform.
    • Automate provisioning, configuration, and deployment processes to streamline operations.
    • Implement CI/CD pipelines.
    • Adopt a gitops approach using tooling such as Flux/Argo.

    Performance Optimisation and Monitoring:

    • Analyse and optimize Kubernetes cluster performance, including resource utilisation and scheduling.
    • Implement monitoring and logging solutions to ensure cluster health and performance.
    • Develop alerting and critical issues procedures for proactive issue resolution.

    Leadership and Collaboration:

    • Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior team members.
    • Collaborate with multi-functional teams, including developers, DevOps engineers, and system administrators, to support their needs.
    • Drive continuous improvement through knowledge sharing, code reviews, and process enhancements.
    • Communicating and working directly with multiple business units and product teams, understanding and developing requirements.

    Required Skills:

    • Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
    • 5+ years of experience in a senior engineering role, with a focus on Kubernetes and cloud technologies.
    • 5+ years of managing production workloads in a platform engineering team.
    • Expertise in designing and implementing Kubernetes-based solutions for production environments.
    • Strong skills in Linux systems administration, scripting and programming skills in Python or other scripting languages.
    • Experience with infrastructure as code tools and methodologies (Terraform etc.).
    • Solid understanding of containerisation concepts and technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
    • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
    • Strong leadership, communication, and collaboration skills.
    • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Certifications such as Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA) or Certified Kubernetes Application Developer (CKAD).
    • Significant experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
    • Deep understanding of networking concepts and protocols.
    • Familiarity with advanced Kubernetes features such as custom resource definitions (CRDs), admission controllers, etc.
    • Knowledge of security standard methodologies for containerised environments.
    • Experience with advanced monitoring and logging tools (Datadog).
