SMT Engineer (Laser Marking/Handling/Depaneling and Pressfit)

Our Industrial Engineering department in Brasov is looking for a new colleague to join the team!

We are seeking a skilled and detail oriented SMT Engineer to join our team. As an SMT Engineer, you will play a critical role in ensuring the efficient operation for laser marking, handling, Depaneling and Pressfit processes within the surface mount technology (SMT) production line. Your expertise in SMT processes, process optimization, and quality control will be essential for maintaining high standards and meeting production targets.

What you will do as an SMT Engineer:

• Proficiency in operating and maintaining Laser Engraving systems designed for PCB applications, including a deep understanding of associated software and hardware;
• Ability to optimize laser parameters, including power, frequency, and beam focus, to achieve precise and consistent engraving results on PCBs;
• Implement and maintain quality control standards during the Laser Engraving process for PCBs, monitoring and adjusting parameters as needed to minimize defects;
• Continuously seek opportunities to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the Laser Engraving process for PCBs, including optimizing laser toolpaths and engraving strategies also;
• Conduct validation and qualification of the Laser Engraving, Depaneling and Pressfit process for new PCB designs and changes to existing designs;
• Implement standardized documentation and record-keeping practices for PCB Laser Engraving processes to ensure traceability and quality control;
• Proficiency in operating, configuring, and maintaining PCB handling equipment, including conveyors, buffers, Destackers, magazine loaders, and magazine unloaders;
• Experience in integrating PCB handling equipment into automated SMT production lines, ensuring smooth and efficient PCB flow;
• Implement cost-effective strategies to improve PCB handling efficiency, such as reducing material handling cycle times and optimizing buffer management;
• Collaborate with equipment suppliers to ensure the reliability and performance of PCB handling equipment, as well as sourcing spare parts and support when needed;
• Conduct validation and qualification of PCB handling processes for new product introductions and changes to existing processes;
• Good knowledge and understanding of Presffit process (fixture designs, poka yoke and so on).

What you will need to succeed:

• Experience with Depaneling systems (V-cut, Milling, router);
• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, Mechanical Engineering, welding engineering or related field;
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in laser applications, specifically in marking and welding;
• Proficiency in Laser technology and Handling structure/ Pressfit and Depaneling knowledge and its applications would be a plus;
• Familiarity with laser safety protocols;
• Ability to troubleshoot processes issues on your area;
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
