Lead Software Project Engineer

Join GE Digital Gird as a Lead Software Project Engineer, you'll be part of an innovative and dynamic team and will get to work on our ADMS (Advanced Distribution Management Solutions) suite of products.
You'll configure and deploy systems to customers sites, that manage electrical distribution systems as a senior member of a committed team. You'll work on tasks that include hardware and network installation, cyber security, data transformation, automation, scripting, interface integration, configuration, testing and training.
You'll put the customer first, taking responsibility for their work and that of the team, ensuring that key milestones and expectations are met. Projects may range from small upgrades executed remotely to multi-year installations across remote sites.

Job Description

Qualifications/Technical Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computing or related degree, or equivalent experience
• Extensive experience in a senior technical role

Technical Skills:

A Lead Software Project Engineer must be able to quickly understand and troubleshoot many different technologies.

You'll have a firm understanding of the following core areas:

• Linux server administration
• Scripting languages (python, perl, shell, vb)
• Database query languages (SQL)

Experience in any of the following areas would be a key advantage:

• Windows server administration
• Kubernetes
• Network design
• Database Management (Oracle preferred)
• Cyber security
• SCADA
• Web Services
• Programming languages (C++/C#, Java)
• DevOps automation technologies (helm, ansible, Jenkins)
• Automated testing technologies
• Data management – data design, migration, engineering, cleansing

The following characteristics would also be advantageous:

• European languages
• Experience in Energy and Utilities sectors
• Experience with distribution automation including SCADA and substation automation, Smart Grid, Meters and Home Area Networks, Communications/protocols in the electricity industry.
