Training / Work experience:

 Completed technical or industrial engineering degree or long-time experience in the field of IT infrastructure and data center, IT operation, IT engineering.
 Several years of professional experience in IT, preferably in IT consulting, IT architecture environment, database solution engineering
 Several years of project experience (e.g. conception of standardized DB environments, migration projects, introduction of new software, etc.)
 Several years of experience in the cooperation and controlling of external business and solution partners
 Good knowledge of the technologies and products used in large, heterogeneous IT infrastructures and the services they provide
 Comprehensive process and IT-TK know-how
 Good knowledge in server and client hardware, operating systems, databases, and standard applications (ERP, CRM, billing)
 Pronounced analytical, solution-oriented, and entrepreneurial thinking and acting as well as technical know-how in the field of application
 Good ITIL knowledge
 Good technical knowledge of the following products in large heterogeneous IT infrastructures (Oracle databases, Informix, MS SQL, MySQL, Teradata)
 Knowledge of scripting tools
 Certifications for various database technologies (e.g. Oracle Certified Professional)

Knowledge / skills:

 Fluent in spoken and written English
 Experience in intercultural communication
 Knowledge of IT architectures as well as IT service management processes (ITIL) and business processes (PPM, internal order, and communication processes, etc.)
 Knowledge of dealing with complex technical issues and for solving problems as well as preparing information that is appropriate for the addressee
 Independent customer and service-oriented way of working, diplomatic skills, high stress resistance and above-average commitment, paired with pronounced communicative and rhetorical skills as well as determination and responsibility
 Experience in negotiations and in dealing with customers and suppliers

Main task / Responsibilities:

 Develops strategies for the conception, implementation and securing of a general database standard in the sense of the architectural specifications
 Is responsible for the planning, initiation, and implementation of projects for the consolidation, optimization and redesign of the existing hardware and software architectures and evaluation and introduction of new database technologies / features
 Coordinates and manages ext. service providers professionally and works in teams with internal customers & external suppliers
 Optimizing processes in and outside of IT
 Supports project managers and architects in planning and implementation with his specialist knowledge regarding a smooth transfer of operations. Makes operational decisions for the databases regarding their operational optimization and availability
 Optimizes the End to End chain regarding Automation of DB deployments, incl. tool verification in the meaning of CI/CD
 Reviews new/needed standard DB functions and features and start them up into production / operation
 Analyze new DB types and their commitment in the public cloud (e.g. AWS)
 Engineers database solutions for local and global DBA parties (monitoring, masking and automation tools and features)

Interfaces / Communication:

 Is responsible for the technical guidance of coworkers and supporting of less experienced colleagues
 Interface to developers, application teams, production, management
 Reports to Head of Department level and in in project steering boards
 Presentation of contents to the Upper Mgmt, All-Hands etc.
 Supports the project manager in T as part of the requirements analysis, during the implementation phase as well as during the IT production launch
 Advises and supports departments in projects
