What Do All Discover Generations Have in Common

My name is Adriana Boldea, and I am an HR Business Partner at Vodafone Romania. A key part of my role is partnering with leaders to build talent pipelines, support employee growth, and create development opportunities that contribute to both individual and organizational success.

I have been actively involved in early-career talent development programe since 2016 and firmly believe that investing in the next generation is one of the most valuable commitments an organization can make. Through graduate, internship, and development initiatives, I have had the privilege of helping young professionals transform their potential into performance. There is something uniquely fulfilling about helping young people build the foundations of their careers and knowing that the investment made in their development creates lasting value for both individuals and organizations.
 

I have been with Vodafone for over 3 and a half years, and since July 2023 I have had the opportunity to be with seven Discover generations. My involvement began at the selection stage and continued throughout their experience, through onboarding, individual discussions and team learning moments. Thus, I got to know them beyond their CVs, to discover what motivates them and to see how they gradually find their own professional path.
 

Even though each generation had its own story, I always found the same curiosity and desire to explore. The participants wanted to understand the business beyond their own role, to meet experienced people and to learn the lessons that helped them get to where they are today. They had the courage to try new things, to get out of their comfort zone and to get involved in projects with real impact.
 

What I particularly liked was to see that their concern did not stop at their own development. Many got involved in Vodafone Foundation initiatives, in projects dedicated to customer experience or in social causes, looking for ways to help those around them. And this spirit continued after the program ended. Some of the graduates stayed close to the community, creating an Alumni network, becoming ambassadors and supporters of the next generations. Looking back, I think it is the people who best define the Discover spirit. From one generation to the next, I have encountered the same energy, curiosity and care for others. There are young people who want to grow, but who also encourage those around them to grow with them. For me, this is one of the most beautiful parts of the program.
