Project Engineer Cooling Systems

A Snapshot of your day

In this role, you will review customer specifications for cooling systems in newly awarded STATCOM projects, ensuring that all technical requirements are properly assessed, clarified where necessary, and integrated into the project's engineering documentation. You will be responsible for sizing and configuring cooling systems and outdoor cooling equipment, providing essential design inputs to layout planning activities. The position involves preparing technical specifications, coordinating technical discussions with suppliers, and supporting procurement activities through engineering evaluations. You will also provide expert guidance to construction and commissioning teams by addressing technical queries related to cooling systems during project execution. Additionally, you will identify opportunities for system improvements, present proposed enhancements to customers, and assess their impact on project scope, implementation schedules, and overall system performance while collaborating closely with internal and external stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.

How you can make a difference

• Technical design, procurement and project management of cooling systems (pumps, motors, piping, fittings, recoolers, measurement and control technology) for energy transmission systems. You take customer specifications and country-specific standards into account.
• Determine the costs for the planning and implementation services for cooling systems
• You create technical inquiry documents (specifications, performance and functional descriptions) and are responsible for evaluating and assessing the submitted offers
• Conduct technical negotiations with customers and suppliers, take part in contract award discussions and provide support with orders
• Coordination and interface clarification with other disciplines involved in the overall system and are responsible for the technical controlling of service provision by suppliers
• Lead technical clarifications with the customer and conduct problem solving with suppliers
• Conduct expeditings at suppliers where needed and lead equipment tests at suppliers factory
• During installation and commissioning, you are the first point of contact for colleagues on the construction site and also provide on-site support yourself if necessary
• With your expert knowledge you contribute to special tasks

What You Bring

• University degree in mechanical engineering, process engineering, mechatronics (or similar)
• Experience in project management in international turnkey plants
• Knowledge in selecting suitable hardware, creating technical documents and dealing with standards and guidelines
• Enjoy working on the energy transition in a global project environment and are fluent in English. You are also prepared to undertake the relevant international business trips.
• Personally, you are characterized by teamwork, analysis, communication and learning skills as well as initiative, motivation, results orientation and enthusiasm
