Senior SCADA Commissioning Engineer (Power Systems)

A Snapshot of Your Day

In your role as Senior SCADA Commissioning Engineer, you will be responsible for the engineering, configuration, testing, and commissioning of SCADA and Substation Automation Systems for transmission, distribution, and industrial energy projects. You will work closely with engineering, project management, protection and control specialists, and customers throughout the entire project lifecycle, from design and factory acceptance testing (FAT) through site commissioning and customer handover. This position offers the opportunity to work with state-of-the-art Siemens Energy automation solutions while contributing to critical infrastructure projects across the energy sector.

How You'll Make an Impact

• Design, engineering, back-office and on-site configuration, commissioning for SCADA and Substation Automation System (SAS) solutions for power system projects.
• Prepare and execute Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) and Site Acceptance Tests (SAT), ensuring compliance with project specifications and customer requirements.
• Perform on-site commissioning activities, troubleshooting, and system integration.
• Configure and integrate various SCADA systems and solutions, protection devices, RTUs, HMIs and communication equipment.
• Provide technical support during the proposal, design, execution, commissioning, and warranty phases of projects.
• Participate in the development and implementation of innovative technical solutions within the power automation portfolio.
• Support diagnosis and resolution of operational issues, including post-commissioning and after-sales activities.
• Conduct customer training sessions on SCADA, protection, and automation systems.
• Prepare technical documentation, commissioning reports, test procedures, and project records.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams to ensure successful project delivery.
• Follow and contribute to internal engineering standards, cybersecurity requirements, and quality processes.

What You Bring

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, power systems engineering, automation, or a related technical field.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in SCADA engineering, commissioning, or substation automation projects within the energy sector.
• Previous experience working in transmission, distribution, renewable energy, or industrial power projects.
• Strong understanding of: SCADA architecture, protection and control systems, IEC 61850-based solutions, industrial communication protocols
• Hands-on experience with various automation solutions, including: Copa-Data (eg: Zenon), Siemens Sicam solutions (eg: PAS, SCC, A8000, etc.), IEC 60870-5-101/104, DNP3, Modbus, IEC 61850, and related communication protocols, RTUs, gateways, and network infrastructure used in utility automation systems., other Automation Solution providers.
• Knowledge of power system cybersecurity standards and best practices.
• Experience performing FAT, SAT, commissioning, and troubleshooting activities.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to interact effectively with customers and multidisciplinary teams.
• Capability of multitasking, with excellent organizational skills while assuring a high-quality work process
• Intercultural sensitivity, to work in (virtual) international team
• Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills, ability to analyse and learn as well as motivation, result orientation and enthusiasm to make a positive contribution to the team. Ability to mentor junior engineers.
• Fully conversant with Microsoft ??? Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Visio
• Business-level i¬?uency in English. German skills will be beneficial.
• Willingness to travel internationally and for on-site commissioning activities (>80%)
