A Snapshot of Your Day

As a Buyer at Siemens Energy within Grid Technologies Solutions, you will report to the Head of Procurement Procurement and act as the procurement partner specific commodities on large investment EPC (Engineering, Procurement and Construction) projects. This role requires proactive engagement with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders, including suppliers, project management, engineering and commercial etc.
You will be responsible for developing and executing procurement strategies across assigned commodities, ensuring alignment with project timelines; budgets and quality standards.
A typical day may include:

• Prioritizing procurement activities based on project needs and stakeholder input
• Attending project update meetings to stay aligned with delivery milestones
• Issuing ad evaluating RFQ's (Request for Quotations)
• Management supplier performance ensuring adherence to contractual deadlines

This is a dynamic role that demands strong commercial acumen, stakeholder management skills and the ability to drive value through strategic sourcing.

How You'll Make an Impact

• Act as procurement partner for specific commodities within large EPC high voltage substation projects, ensuring procurement processes are understood and effectively implemented during bid and execution phases.
• Prepare, action and manage requests for quotations, including negotiation of pricing and commercial terms.
• Define sourcing and supplier strategies for assigned commodities, ensuring sufficient contract coverage is in place based on scope, value and risk, with key commercial terms considered and negotiated prior to contract award.
• Proactively identify and manage supplier-related risks to avoid non-conformance costs and support the achievement of business targets.
• Actively foster a high-performance culture by participating in and driving improvement initiatives.
• Ensure high standards are maintained across the function through adherence to agreed processes and approved tools.

What You Bring

• A high-performance mindset with a passion for procurement and minimum 3 years of experience in a similar role
• Proven ability to define and execute sourcing strategies
• Good understanding of commercial terms and risks with experience reviewing; negotiating and drafting supplier contracts (with support from commercial/legal teams)
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with a broad range of stakeholders
• Demonstrate proactive approach to risk management
