Requirements

Mandatory qualifications:

- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field;
- Experience: Minimum 10 years of experience in Secondary Substation Systems

Skills:
- Advanced knowledge of electrical engineering secondary substation system;
- Strong expertise in:
- Protection and control system design for HV substations (line, transformer, busbar, and feeder protection schemes);
- Substation automation systems and SCADA integration;
- Protection coordination studies and relay settings philosophy;
- Control logic, interlocking schemes, and communication networks;
- Integration of protection systems with primary equipment and system studies;
- Experience on full EPC, Design/Build projects from start to complete design and construction;
- Provides specialized technical input to studies and design for staff''s specific area of expertise;
- Participates in interdisciplinary review of project deliverables;
- Senior technical resource may serve as technical advisor and lead for team;
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills;
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.

Nice to have:

- Good knowledge of Mapping and Relay Settings for ABB Relays Family, GE Relays Family, Siemens Relays Family & SEL Relays Family;
- Commissioning Field Experience;
- Knowledge of the Control Equipment (Protection Relays, PLC, Concentrators, etc.);
- Experience working on UK transmission or distribution substation projects;
- Exposure to National Grid standards and protection philosophie;
- Experience with IEC 61850 substation automation systems;
- Experience with protection relays such as ABB, GE, Siemens, or SEL;
- Proficiency in using engineering software tools (e.g., AutoCAD, ETAP).

Responsibilities

The T&D Secondary Systems Engineer is responsible for assisting in the design, implementation, and maintenance of secondary systems within the transmission and distribution Substation. This role provides an opportunity to work on various projects related to protective relaying, control systems, and communication networks, ensuring the reliable and efficient operation of the T&D systems.

Key Responsibilities:

Design and Implementation:
- Responsible for the electrical engineering secondary circuits for HV Substations;
- Provide mentorship for the other electrical engineers in our High Voltage/Power team;
- Working with Project Engineer and Project Manager on developing design schedules and budgets for electrical engineering work activities;
- Assist in the design and development of secondary systems for T&D projects;
- Support the implementation and commissioning of protective relay schemes, control systems, and communication networks.

Documentation and Reporting:
- Prepare technical documentation, including design specifications, reports, schematics;
- Generate basis of design documentation for protection and relay configurations;
- Generate reports on system performance, project progress, and testing outcomes;
- Reviewing engineering work performed by peers;
- Supporting projects during construction, start-up, and commissioning;
- Ensure compliance with industry standards, company specifications, and regulatory requirements.

Collaboration and Support:
- Work closely with senior engineers, project managers, and other stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery;
- Provide technical support during project execution and address any issues related to secondary systems;
- Review and approve technical documentation, including design drawings, specifications, and reports.

- Ensure all designs and implementations comply with industry standards, company policies, and regulatory requirements;
- Stay updated with the latest technological advancements and industry best practices.
