EHS Manager in Projects (EHSMiP)

The EHS Manager in Projects (EHSMiP) drives the implementation of the Siemens Energy Zero Harm Program across all project phases, ensuring strict compliance with internal and external regulations. To support these business objectives, the role focuses on establishing project-specific EHS management systems, conducting risk assessments, and managing contractor EHS performance. These core areas directly ensure safe-by-design and safe-by-planning execution for complex energy transition projects such as FACTS and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS).

Given this focus, the ideal candidate will have at least 3 years of experience in occupational safety, a solid technical background, and strong communication skills to manage international stakeholders. Experience in industrial or construction environments, particularly within energy transmission or storage, is highly preferred.

How You'll Make an Impact

• Establish and implement project-specific EHS management systems meeting internal, customer, and regulatory requirements across FACTS & Storage projects.
• Develop emergency preparedness concepts and project-specific EHS plans aligned with site-specific conditions and interfaces.
• Provide EHS budget inputs, staffing assumptions, and risk evaluations during the tender and bid phases.
• Perform and facilitate comprehensive risk assessments covering electrical, lifting, energy isolation, and simultaneous-operations (SIMOPS) hazards.
• Conduct regular site inspections, safety walks, and targeted EHS reviews to support local site teams.
• Investigate, record, and report all incidents and near misses, defining and monitoring effective corrective and preventive actions.
• Liaise with customer and contractor EHS representatives regarding project execution, evaluating contractor performance and providing feedback to procurement.
• Review the quality and completeness of EHS documentation, risk assessments, and method statements provided by subcontractors.
• Coordinate EHS interfaces between site works, equipment suppliers, civil contractors, commissioning teams, and customer operations.

What You Bring

• University degree or higher technical education combined with relevant EHS training and certification
• At least 3 years of experience in occupational safety / EHS, with substantial site-related experience from industrial and/or construction business
• Availability to travel within the country and abroad for up to 30% of working time
• Advanced expertise in Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) management within industrial, construction, and project environments, including risk assessment and incident investigation methodologies, as well as specialized knowledge of hazards associated with FACTS, BESS, and synchronous condenser systems to ensure safe operations, regulatory compliance, and effective risk mitigation.
• Project management and financial management capabilities, including an understanding of project management methodologies and project lifecycles, experience in EHS budget management, forecasting and cost control, and proficiency in tools such as Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel, SharePoint, and project management platforms to support effective planning, reporting, and project execution.
• Effective communication and stakeholder management capabilities, including cross???cultural awareness, experience working with diverse international stakeholders, strong influencing, decision???making, and interpersonal communication skills, as well as the ability to manage contractor EHS performance and conduct professional site audits to support compliance, collaboration, and safe project execution.
• Relevant health and safety certifications, including Occupational Health and Safety Inspector Certification (SSM in accordance with Romanian Law 319/2006) and the NEBOSH International General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety, demonstrating recognized knowledge of workplace safety, risk management, regulatory compliance, and EHS best practices.
