Do IT Girls! Hackathon

To celebrate the Spring, Microsoft launches an invitation to all the girls passionate about IT: on 16th & 17th of March, join us at Do IT, Girls! Hackathon. A special format that combines a session of inspiring talks dedicated to the next generation of women in tech and a Hackathon where we can stand out!   Do IT, Girls! Hackathon. Powered by Microsoft is a two-day event created exclusively for the tech girls who are keen on developing new skills and getting inspired by a cool adventure.

This edition is all about sharing your passion, while talking with all kinds of skilled people in the industry. Hang out with no. 1 most desired IT employer in Romania who use their imagination to create fun experiences only for you ladies. And to make it even more creative, you are encouraged to use any engine or programming languages and to explore the best idea.

Prepare yourself for almost 20 hours of coding session there is out there – Do IT Girls! Hackathon.

Agenda Flow

The agenda is designed as a session of powerful talks in that first part of the day that will provide meaningful insights and know-how around some state of the art technologies and the most discussed topics of the moment and will continue with a Hackathon.

If you are a young student girl who has chosen to develop a career in technology, Do IT, Girls! is the perfect way to stand out. 

Also, we provide the space, the atmosphere, and everything needed to fuel your intense coding making session.

After inspiring and providing tools for girls in countries all over the world, Microsoft launched Do IT, Girls! Hackathon. in Romania as part of a wider movement to empower the next generation of women in tech, #MakeWhatsNext.

The flow of the 2 days is designed to have a productive and restful weekend as well, so we will:

icon-1 Meet at 9.30 am to register and accommodate with our work desks.

icon-2 Grab a coffee and starting with 10 am assist 4 inspirational speeches that will give you the drive you need to start the coding.

icon-3 icon-2 icon-1 Have a break around 12 am and network around.

icon-1 Hold your guts at 1 pm and find out the official CHALLENGE and start the craziness. Don't panic, we want to give you unconditional liberty to create something amazing and our mentors will be next to you.

icon-3 Around 11 pm we are closing the day to get the most deserved rest and

icon-2 Meet the next day, 17th of March, same place, starting with 9.30 am and do your magic.

icon-1 icon-2 icon-3 6 pm is the end of the coding challenge and go into the presentations & demos to show the world who are the top 3 winners.

Cristina Raita

“My name is Cristina Raita. I am a 24 and I was born and raised in the beautiful city of Brasov, Romania. My journey with Microsoft has started not longer than 9 months ago, when I was a freshly University graduate. I have been offered a full-time software engineering position for Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central in Copenhagen, Denmark. I am working with ERP systems and my team is responsible for the application services and integration.

The coolest thing about my job is that no matter your level of expertise, you are getting involved in the full process of analysis, development and testing and you get to apply all the engineering skills, yet learning and discovering new things with every task you are taking on in a very dynamic and supportive multicultural environment. On the personal side, I am huge travelling enthusiast – that’s why after graduation I have travelled 3 continents, I love sports and I have been doing volleyball, swimming, snowboarding since I was a teenager and I am a big music consumer and a huge festival enthusiast, I play a piano and there is no good party in town that I would miss.”

Alexandra Ciortea

“Alexandra Ciortea joined Microsoft almost 9 years ago as a Project Server and SQL Server French speaking Support Engineer. In 2013 she started working onsite as Premier Field Engineer in EMEA.

She is a speaker for Microsoft Ready events and SQL Saturday. Changing the office seat with a plane seat offered her the opportunity to travel, interact with different cultures and languages, work and evanghelize the things she is passionate about.

Currently she is working with customers on technology adoption as an Architect in Data & AI domain. <<<<<<< HEAD She graduated The Faculty of Automatic Control and Computer Science-Bucharest and has a Master diploma on IT Management .Two years ago she joined the teaching assistents team at the same faculty.”

“Technology enthusiast and full of energy girl with a background in Computer Science and Cybersecurity. My journey at Microsoft started with being an intern and continued when I joined the after-graduate program "Microsoft Aspire Experience", as part of the Azure Networking team.

I'm passionate about the Cloud and how it can make our lives easier when developing applications or complex infrastructures. I'm constantly seeking new challenges and I love getting involved in activities that make me gain unique experiences, hackathons and volunteering being some of them.

Claudia Petre

“Adrian is the EMEA Director for SharePoint & Office in Microsoft Customer Service and Success (CSS) organization and the Romania’s CSS Site Lead. CSS, with its breadth and depth of technical expertise on all Microsoft products and solutions, is fundamental in helping our customers through their Digital Transformation Journey. In his role he is working with his team of experts in driving customer satisfaction, increased adoption for Microsoft’s solutions. With Romania being a strategic growth site for Microsoft CSS, the biggest team in EMEA, Adrian focuses on growing the expertise and the business added value of the local team.

Adrian holds a Bachelor’s degree in Cybernetics from the Academy of Economic Studies, Bucharest, an MBA in Marketing from HEC Montreal and an MBA in Global Leadership and Innovation from MIT. He taught for 8 years a general management and strategy class in the Romanian-Canadian Executive MBA in Bucharest, working with several generations of leaders. Personally, he is actively involved with fundraising and volunteering with several NGO’s, with a particular focus on inspiring younger generations to pursue STEM careers.”
