Senior Hardware Development Engineer - HMI/EAS projects (F/M) - Marquardt

We are looking for a Senior Hardware Development Engineer to take technical responsibility for electronic projects within our Human Machine Interfaces (HMI) or Entry Authorization Systems (EAS) divisions. In this role, you will be deeply involved in the entire hardware lifecycle--from analyzing customer requirements and concept design to validation and series production. You will tackle complex electronics challenges and act as a technical guide for your colleagues.

Responsibilities

• Design & Architecture: Design and develop robust hardware solutions for complex automotive HMI (e.g. steering wheel integrated components, gear shifters, climate control panels and center console modules) or EAS (Entry authorization modules) covering analog, digital, micro-controller architecture and power supplies

• Requirements & Analysis: Review customer requirements, industry standards and internal guidelines to establish clear product electrical requirements and hardware specifications, managing traceability within DOORS

• Simulation & Validation: Perform core engineering analyses, including worst-case calculations (WCC), electrical simulations and thermal analyses

• Testing & Verification: Define test setups, write test specifications and perform hardware electrical tests and validation on development samples

• Processes & Quality: Perform design verification activities (e.g. DFMEA) and ensure compliance with automotive functional safety (FuSa) and ASPICE processes, actively working within Stages for process management

• Documentation & Lifecycle: Create and review electronic schematics, hardware/software interface specifications and related process documentation. Provide support for Engineering Change Requests and Design for Manufacturability (DFM)

• Collaboration & Leadership: Coordinate project activities for allocated colleagues, offering technical mentorship. Work closely with cross-functional, international teams (software, mechanical, project management) and manage interfaces with suppliers

HMI & Infotainment Hardware Engineer

Responsibilities

• Develops hardware for Human-Machine Interfaces, displays, and in-vehicle infotainment (IVI) systems. Integrates touch controllers, display drivers, audio systems, and connectivity modules (Bluetooth/Wi-Fi). Collaborates closely with mechanical and UX teams to ensure optimal user interaction and display visibility

• Display and touch panel specification, schematic design, audio/video interface routing, and UX hardware conceptualization

• Optical and acoustic measurements, touch response validation, and physical integration of displays/bezels into the mechanical housing

Entry Authorization Systems (EAS) Hardware Engineer

Responsibilities

• Develops secure access systems, including smart keys

• Designs and integrates RF modules, UWB (Ultra-Wideband), BLE, and NFC technologies. Ensures cryptographic hardware security and optimizes low quiescent current for battery-powered fobs

• RF antenna conceptualization, low-power circuit design, protocol specification, and security architecture

• RF tuning, antenna matching network calibration, signal range testing, and validation of physical access prototypes

Candidate profile

• Education: University or Bachelor's degree in Electronics, Electro-Mechanics, Telecommunications or a related engineering field

• Experience: Minimum 5 years of proven experience in hardware development, with a strong background in the automotive industry (experience with HMI/EAS products is a significant advantage)

• Software & Tools: Hands-on experience with PADS Pro (hardware design) or similar CAD tool, Requirements management (e.g. Doors), and process management (e.g. Stages) is highly appreciated

• Technical Expertise: Solid competence in schematic design, worst-case calculations, electrical simulation and hardware testing

• Standards & Compliance: Familiarity with automotive standards and processes (ASPICE, Functional Safety/ISO 26262, DFMEA) is highly advantageous

• Soft Skills: Demonstrated ability to work autonomously with strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Proactive, solution-oriented mindset with the ability to manage on-time tasks with minimal guidance

• Languages: Fluency in English; knowledge of German is appreciated

• Continuous Learning: A strong willingness to continuously learn, grow and deepen expertise within the Hardware & Electronics domain
