METRO Cash & Carry România launched its operations in Romania in October 1996, featuring as the first multinational player to introduce on the Romanian market a new wholesale system - cash & carry.
In the following years, the company focused its activity on network expansion, reaching a total of 32 distribution centres, with a total surface of 190.000 sm. Since its entry on the Romanian market, METRO Cash & Carry streamlined its activity to provide to its professinal customers a rich assortment of products, with an optimal quality-price ratio.
In April 2010, METRO Cash & Carry Romania introduced a new concept, METRO Punct, a tailor-made format to accommodate Trader & HoReCa customers. METRO Punct constantly features multiple promotional offers, solutions & professional consultancy, as well as customer loyalty programs, in view of enhancing its customers’ business success. Customers can thus benefit from the company’s products and services, effectively and swiftly, hence maximising time and other resources use and return rate.
Six of the 32 distribution centres are METRO Punct. At national level, stores are thus distributed: 5 centers in Bucharest, 2 centers in each of the following cities: Brasov, Constanta, Timisoara, Pitesti, one center in each of the following: Cluj, Bacău, Iaşi, Craiova, Baia Mare, Galaţi, Ploieşti, Oradea, Sibiu, Suceava, Tg. Mureş, Arad, Deva, Brăila, Satu Mare, Piatra Nemţ, Buzău, Târgovişte şi Turda.
