Java Developer

The company comprises 2 divisions specialized on its core capabilities: ENGINEERING and IT. These two divisions are: ALTEN TECHNO and ALTEN IT.

•Proficient at coding in Java version 6, 7 and 8. Java 8 is the main used version, any experience with later versions is a plus
•Experience with Java socket programming and web services like SOAP and REST
•Experience with Git version control, Maven build tool and JUnit testing framework
•Knowledge of SQL databases and simple querying
•Any knowledge of DLMS/COSEM standard for smart metering is considered a plus

•The job involves development and maintenance of Java based smart metering protocols
•The protocols are a part of a larger company’s proprietary data collection and meter management software system
•They represent the means of communication between the MDC (meter data collection server) and the meter (client)
•Communication is mainly done over Java sockets with DLMS as the data model and with SOAP web services
•Tools used are IntelliJ IDEA as the default code editor. Git is the main version control system, SVN in a few legacy code cases
•The Atlassian team collaboration software is used Jira, Confluence, Stash and Bamboo. Jenkins is used as an alternative CI system
