Learn how Madalina entered Sales with a hospitality mindset

Before joining Veeam, Madalina worked in hospitality. She is convinced that the skills she has learned in that career also help her in her current role as a Sales Development Representative here at Veeam. “Having to constantly be patient, to pay attention to details while maintaining a positive attitude is what I believe shaped me,” Madalina says.

“Initially, I had never considered Sales as a career for myself. But when I spoke with my previous manager about next career steps, he encouraged me to explore Sales. Veeam is just the right place for me to do that because they don’t necessarily put an accent on experience when recruiting new Sales colleagues for entry level positions.” Madalina is always up for a challenge, has a positive attitude and a fighting spirit. These characteristics as well as her willingness to constantly keep on learning make her successful and happy in her Veeam sales career.

“During my first weeks at Veeam, I felt as if I had just entered Narnia. Everything was new and there was so much so learn, so much new information to take in. And I was putting a lot of pressure on myself to understand very quickly how Sales works at Veeam. But eventually I understood that everything takes a certain amount of time – and from there on it was smooth sailing for me!”

Madalina was amazed how helpful fellow Veeamers were from day one. They always checked in on her, how she was progressing and if she needed any support. “I felt welcomed from the very first training,” she says. But it’s not just her direct colleagues who help Madalina with her career. “I love the fact that Veeam really values their employees’ growth and that here there’s always room to advance in your career.”

Madalina was recently promoted from an Inside Sales Associate to a Sales Development Representative. Her language and cultural skills that she picked up while living in the UK for two years were certainly an advantage in that process. “I had the chance to get to know the habits, the personalities and the culture of the people in the UK. That really helped me when I joined the UK&Irealnd team and started calling and discussing with customers from over there because I already knew their behavior.”
