Our founder and CEO, Sigurd Vedal and the story behind VedalMedia

Sigurd was born in 1971, Kansas City, MO. He is an American-Norwegian entrepreneur, splitting his time between Budapest, the HQ of VedalMedia and Oslo, where his three children live.

Sigurd established VedalMedia after having worked in various media (radio, TV, internet) and creating numerous brands for almost 20 years. In October 2010, he accomplished one of his major objectives by launching what is one of the largest online social networks today, with over 10 million registered members, present in over 34 countries and available in over 23 languages around the world.

But this successful launch was just one on a long list of brands that Sigurd have come up with and driven to success over the years.

VedalMedia is a genuinely international establishment with offices scattered throughout Europe, from Norway to Malta and Budapest.

During the years the company has grown and developed into a force to be reckoned with. It boasts various teams consisting of financial and business developers, marketing and social media professionals, web and UX/UI developers, talent recruiters, graphic designers and video/photo editors, copywriters, translators and customer care staff. These teams are led by highly skilled, trained and experienced managers, which makes everyone in our 50+ strong team a high profile professional in their respective fields - on an international level too.

This approach created a stable, motivated, resourceful and experienced workforce in each of the departments and with colleagues from all around the world. We use and apply state-of-the-art technologies and techniques in a premium quality office to make sure that everyone can fully extract the talents that got them a gig at VedalMedia in the first place.

HR is one of our busiest departments, where the members of the team are continuously looking for and hiring the best talents out there. We have a team of over 80 people from around the world, which were hand-picked one by one, making sure that with each new hire, everybody wins - the company gets a valuable asset, and the new colleague gets an opportunity to thrive!

We do value the hard work everyone is putting in day in, day out - and we are keen to show that in every possible way. Therefore the remuneration packages within the company, complete with generous bonuses and rewards, are very competitive by an international standard too!

Also, we don’t believe in the obsolete idea of clocking in and out. That’s not always the only or best way to be productive. Flexibility is key - that means we also offer opportunities to work remotely.

However, if you do come to the office, you are in for a treat. We recently moved to our hi-tech new headquarters, located just outside of the city centre of Budapest. It has an open-concept seating where everyone can have a clear view of all of their teammates from their desks. When someone needs to have a meeting or a private conversation, we offer small meeting rooms. In addition, the office boasts other perks too, like comfortable couches and coffee and other vending machines for when our colleagues need to converse and collaborate in an informal setting.
