Ionut, exploring Technology Shared Services

“Vodafone Discover is one of the best ways to start your career. It offers you all the necessary help to succeed: mentors, learning opportunities, support for your ideas and much more.
When I first started the program I had no idea what I wanted to do, but being exposed to lots of different roles within my department and even some in other parts of the business helped sketch a proper career plan. Along this process I was also guided by an amazing mentor, which provided me with business insights that helped me get a better understanding of how the business works and where I could fit in.
One of my favorite things in this program are the learning opportunities. In addition to the great online platforms, where you can learn almost anything, you participate in trainings on various topics, both technical and business related, and you can also request others that are relevant to your development.

"My experience here meant a lot, because I got the support I needed and also learnt what teamwork really is. The fact that you are working with people that are willing to share their career experience and are always there to answer your questions, is the best thing for new starters like me.
I had the opportunity to work on an idea that I came up with, and got the support needed from everyone to assemble this little project that I and other Discovers started from scratch. I worked hard in every team I was part of to finish the tasks on time in an efficient way.
For me a job is not that office where you have to go every day 8 hours a day doing the same thing that you don’t like. It’s about the working environment, Discover community, learning opportunities and developing your skills. So far, Vodafone hasn’t let me down in any of these aspects, on the contrary it exceeded my expectations.
After one year in this programme, I can proudly say that applying for Discover was the right call for a good career start."

Andreea, explored both Group Network Engineering & Delivery and Technology Shared Services

“I am about to become an engineer, as I am in the last year at Faculty of Electronics and Telecommunications. In the last months, after starting Discover Technology Program, I said <> to a lot of challenges and I did my best to achieve my new goals. I learned new skills, I met wonderful people and I learned more than I could imagine, both from my experiences and my colleagues. As a student who is about to graduate, the thought of applying to a job that fits my profile was a huge challenge. I thought it would be difficult to adapt myself to different roles that require different knowledge and colleagues. Discover Technology program is a mix of these two factors, therefore it attracted now.
Having a different recruitment algorithm, Discover Graduate Program comes from the very beginning with a new perspective. It avoids the typical selection questions and motivates each graduate to think outside the box. People from the program have very different backgrounds and experiences, but they are all connected by creativity and the drive to do their best in their activity.
I started in a very technical team, that required a solid background from telecom area and a lot of experience working with network architectures. Even though I did not have any of them, I was lucky to have my colleagues’ support, in order to learn faster and be able to apply the information. This is why, during this rotation, I was able to have an useful input, which helped the team. During these months, I could understand what passion for your job means and I found in my manager a constant inspiration.
While being in the first rotation, I discovered that this program is not only about the roles that we have, but, also, about ideas that we could bring within Vodafone, as a company. I learned how a flow end-to-end should look and how important it is to have very-well defined roles in the team. What delighted me a lot was the support received from people around us.
My second rotation was outside my field of study, because I wished I could see the business from a different perspective. While in the first rotation I used my technical skills, during the next six months I developed my soft skills.
All in a nutshell, Discover Technology Program was an opportunity that helped me understand better what I would like to do in the future and what activities I would like to have at my job. I met inspiring people, I worked in supporting teams and developed skills that I never thought I could have."
