Tax Costing Consultant - Research & Development

We are looking for a Costing Consultant to join the growing UK R&D Tax Services practice, Romanian team. The practice currently deals with R&D claims nationally for clients ranging from small privately owned companies to FTSE 100 and multinational groups. Within Deloitte in the UK, the R&D Tax Services Group is regarded as one of the most diverse service lines with a reputation for being proactive, successful and fun to work with. You will join a dynamic international team containing both technical (IT and engineering) specialists and of tax professionals. Your role will be to use tax and data analysis knowledge to assist some of the UK’s most influential companies in obtaining research and development tax incentives.

As an R&D Costing Consultant at Deloitte, you will play an integral role in the quantification of our client’s R&D tax claims. You will be expected/required to:

• Work with the clients' finance staff to identify and collate the associate qualifying costs;
• Interpret the tax rules governing the relief to ensure that only appropriate costs are included;
• Work with technical engineers from UK to ensure that the eligible activities are appropriately matched to the relevant costs;
• Prepare the detailed analyses to support the figures included in the claim;
• Liaise with wider corporate tax teams to ensure the claims are appropriately included within the corporation tax returns
• Deal with accounting questions.
• Plan, organize and execute engagements on time and to budget, while ensuring proactive, timely and up to date communication with team members in the UK.
• Support the more senior members of the group with the preparation of responses to HMRC enquiries and business development opportunities.
• Develop PowerPoint presentations for sales, marketing, technical meetings and audit support in accordance with Deloitte brand.
• Research potential clients and summarise opportunities available.

Qualifications

• Previous knowledge of R&D tax is NOT required for this role
• Fluency in spoken and written English (level C1)
• Bachelor’s degree in business-relevant subject
• Up to three years previous professional experience preferable (Tax, Accounting or other related areas)
• A knowledge of tax, accounting and finance principles would be desirable.
• Strong Excel and Microsoft Word skills (PowerPoint skills desired)

• Professional attitude and demeanor to proactively develop relationships with team members in overseas offices.
