Test Automation Engineer for Web

 

our Role:

We're growing Avira's next generation of safe-web experiences. Do you want to take part of building a product that will service & protect the devices of more than 100 millions of users? 

Working closely with members of our Web Development team, you will continuously develop and update this product at high quality standards. Innovations and basic product must be permanently tested to ensure functionality. Your task is to plan and conducts the analysis, inspection and tests to assure the quality for our large and complex web-based product. 

As a Web Automation Engineer, you will be working as part of a cross-functional Agile team, which is responsible for one of Avira’s flagship projects: The Connect dashboard. 
Your main task will be to maintain and extend a WebdriverIO-based automation framework using JavaScript/NodeJS, while ensuring coverage of Avira’s Connect project.

 

Keys to Hiring:

• Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Mathematics, or Electrical Engineering
• At least 3 to 5 years of experience in the Quality Assurance field (ideally for web, mobile, or desktop applications)
• Recent, hands-on experience with coding in at least one of the following: JavaScript, Python, or Java
• Experience using Selenium WebDriver to drive web UI tests and understanding the WebDriver W3C standard
• Experience testing API/SDK as a white box, or automation engineer
• Experience building and extending test frameworks and test scripts (you must know how to write automation tests rather than simply execute them)
• Familiar with Git, Jenkins, or any other CI/CD systems
• Ability to troubleshoot, debug, and identify the relevant information in reporting a defect
• Ability to communicate technical information, verbally and in writing, in a manner digestible to all stakeholders (development, design, management)
• Knowledge of HTML, basic CSS, and some understanding of JavaScript
• Solid understanding of software test methodologies and the role of a Software Engineer in Test in an Agile environment
• Exceptional attention to detail
• Do all of the above (and more) with a positive attitude, friendly disposition and “can do” mentality in a fun and exciting environment working with a world-caliber software QA team.

 

Bonus Skills We Appreciate:

• Certification as an ISTQB Certified Tester or similar
• Experience with continuous deployment & integration systems (Jenkins, Hudson, TravisCI, CircleCI, TeamCity, etc.)
• Atlassian Tool-Suite experience (e.g. Jira, Zephyr, Confluence, HipChat, Bamboo)
• Any Selenium-based testing framework (e.g. WebdriverIO/NightwatchJS (preferred), TestNG, Junit, Serenity, SoapUI)
• Other test-automation tools (e.g. AutoIT, SilkTest, SikuliScript)
• Able to Linux CLI, Windows CLI, Git & Git Bash
• Passion for cutting-edge software development and test automation
