Solution Architect

JOB SUMMARY

Our client is an innovative software company with offices in North America and Europe. They have a start up like environment that is laid back with a casual dress code, snacks, ping pong/foosball table, great compensation packages and much more! They solve challenging problems with a focus on their customers. We are quickly growing and looking to expand our team in all areas.

Their cross-functional teams work in a fast paced agile environment with continuous integration. Their core product (ULM) enables the federation and personalization of services across desktops, laptops, mobile devices, set-top boxes and smart TVs. This software is currently focused on serving the telecommunications industry enhancing operator service delivery.

Our client is currently seeking a Solution Architect with real world experience designing and architecting large scale enterprise systems. Please see below for more details on the technical requirements for the role.

REQUIREMENTS

- Bachelor degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or equivalent experience. Academic excellence preferred
- 8+ years combined industry experience in technology
- 3+ years experience in J2EE application development
- 2+ years experience in architecture design for scalability, load, high availability
- Strong understanding of web service design (REST, SOAP)
- Solid understanding of Agile (Scrum) methodology and practices
- Excellent presentation and communication skills
- Team orientation and sparkling interpersonal skills
- Demonstrate good judgement and pragmatic approach in high pressure situations
- Self-motivated, able to work independently with minimal direction, multi-tasking when required
- Organized and analytical, able to work in a collaborative team setting with specified goals/schedule
- Willingness to travel to client locations ~30%

NICE TO HAVE

- Experience in mobile/web design and development
- Experience with technologies such as Spring, Hibernate, Hazelcast, MQ
- Experience in Identity Management and Big Data technologies
- Understanding of client/server and internet systems architecture and established standards (W3C, IETF)

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ownership of the end to end solution, understanding the design, interfaces, data model, configuration and functions in the ecosystem
- External- Produce detailed design documents/specifications to match customer requirements
- Internal- Create design spaces in Wiki, stories/tasks by features/epic in backlog
- Provide direction and solution during discovery/design and support development and delivery
- Lead client-facing technical activities, being accountable for appropriate the client’s representation and position on the team's vendor/client technical communication
- Suggests alternative technical solutions to meet client requirements more efficiently and align with the product roadmap where possible
- Maintain long-term and big picture plans for client systems, architecture and technical environment
- Provide high level estimates for projects for all technical disciplines, and involves other discipline leads where appropriate
- Identify new opportunities in day-to-day communication, and communicates them to the internal stakeholder
