Senior Front End Developer

Position Summary:

As a Senior Front End Developer at Avira, you need to develop cross-browser, standards compliant websites and applications using web technologies like HTML, CSS, JavaScript / jQuery and AJAX, for internal and / or external use. You must ensure that published content complies with organizational standards and supports our online marketing efforts.

You will need to work closely with creative copywriters, designers and other front end developers within an agile environment in order to produce results on a weekly turnaround, while managing parallel requests from various stakeholders, all prioritized within a common backlog. You’ll have the ability to estimate and commit to deadlines.
 

Responsibilities:

• HTML / CSS / JavaScript implementation of web pages and/or web applications in close relation with the Design department while working with Avira’s CMS system(s)
• Enhancing the user experience through the use of JavaScript / jQuery and AJAX
• Monitoring and maintenance of the website’s front end security
• Adheres to coding standards and best practices
• Implementation of split tests and various user targeting scenarios
• On-site search engine optimization of the webpages implemented and / or maintained
• Implementation of tracking systems and/or tracking schemes
• Contributes to the overall development and success of the Web team
• Help the team solve tricky development situations.
• Occasional need to travel

Qualifications:

• Minimum 3 years of experience in a similar position
• Experience developing clean and valid websites with HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript
• Experience working with LESS and Bootstrap
• Experience working with various template languages (e.g. Twig)
• Experience debugging typical CSS and JavaScript issues
• Experience with online marketing is considered a plus
• Experience with working together with backend teams is also a plus
• Self-motivated individual, with hands on capabilities
• Team orientation as well as being able to work independently
• Good communicator, analytical thinking and good problem solver
• Very good English skills
• Very solid understanding of web concepts and technologies
• Fast learner, openness to new areas of expertise / moving trends
• Very strong initiative
• Background in programming or computer science is preferred
