Lead Project Manager

The company comprises 2 divisions specialized on its core capabilities: ENGINEERING and IT. These two divisions are: ALTEN TECHNO and ALTEN IT.

• Requires deep expertise of project management methodologies, tools and techniques and integrates PM expertise with the strategic priorities of the organization to meet the demand expectations of the Firm.
• Proven senior IT project management experience in a complex, international environment.
• Expertise in SDLC methodologies used with the technical domains on the project(s).
• Demonstrable success in project managing at least two large complex international projects of a technical nature.
• Experience of managing complex resourcing issues, coordinating various groups both internal and external on projects without necessarily having direct control over such resources.
• An understanding of the technology issues facing large organisations operating globally.
• Experience in all aspects of service establishment including both infrastructure and application development and deployments.
• Experience within a large and complex company/organisation which is a prime user of technology for promoting business advantage.
• Understanding of professional services firms culture and way of working – again preferable but not mandatory.
• Skilled people manager - able personally to lead and motivate staff from disparate cultural and corporate backgrounds and to form and champion teams from such resources.
• Strong persuasive and influencing skills, diplomatic problem solver.
• Undergraduate Degree (e.g., BA, BS) or equivalent experience.

• Perform project management processes and deliverables following the standard global project methodology.
• Manage and motivate the project team.
• Manage the project risk.
• Manage the scope and budget of project work.
• Collaborate with the team leads to gather the appropriate project management information required by the SDLC being used for the project.
• Contribute new thought leadership on the project management domain and collaborate with other project managers across the IT PM Organization to evaluate new thought leadership.
• Lead a team of project managers on complex / global projects to create and maintain project plans based on the information from the various project team leads, incorporate updates and changes to the project plan, and prepare reports and presentations at project and executive levels, and all project management deliverables for the project.
• Perform project management to the global standard methodology, schedule, resolve issues that may have an effect on the successful outcome and manage such projects in a period of change.
• Undertake scoping, financial estimating/management of project work, such that accurate budgets can be allocated to each project and that client expectation is managed.
• Manage and motivate staff on major projects, allocating appropriate people to appropriate positions, taking into consideration all the complexities of working on a major global project with a diverse team.
• Communicate throughout the team and to key stakeholders who have a vested interest in the work, ensuring that achievement is acknowledged and sense of purpose is retained.
• Coach/mentor those within the team, such that a culture of personal development and learning is encouraged.
• Develop project plan structure including identification of project phases and creates the project plan template.
• Perform project plan maintenance to incorporate updates and changes to the master project plan.
• Lead in preparing reports and presentations at the project and executive levels.
• Provide input to project leadership for planning and organization for all aspects of project administration.
• Provide management reporting on project status.
• Lead in developing and distributing internal project communications, and participates in the development and review of firm-wide project communications.
• Identify areas of change management and suggests innovative ways to address.
• As part of a team, work with leaders/owners of the process or service to understand current practices and identify areas for improvement.
• Facilitate collaboration amongst team leads on a project to address project issues and execution.
• Create new thought leadership on the Project Management domain.
• Provide counselling, coaching and mentoring to staff.
• May serve as Relationship Leader.
• Take an active role in the coaching and development of project managers, prepare periodic feedback on staff, identify skill development needs; research/create training to raise skills/core competencies for staff and encourage training and development.

• PMP certification preferred.
• Ideally have International/cross-border experience, working on complex technical projects over a significant time period, serving the needs of large (10,000 plus) and complex user groups.
• Understanding of professional services firms culture and way of working – again preferable but not mandatory.
