The British Embassy in Bucharest is looking to recruit an intern for a period of 10 weeks who will assist with the organisation of the Embassy’s official celebrations to mark the Queen’s Birthday, Embassy official events and offer logistical support to the Corporate Services Section.
The ideal candidate should have good organisational and communication skills, enthusiasm, and a keen interest in events management. Being an intern at the British Embassy is an exciting opportunity to gain working experience in an international environment. During the internship period the candidate will have a designated mentor who will oversee the intern’s activities and provide advice and guidance as appropriate.
During the internship the intern will be asked to:
- Attend planning meetings in house and on site, together with the Events Manager. Take notes during meetings and follow up on tasks delivery, as requested;
- Assist the Events Manager with routine administrative tasks, such as placing orders, preparing supplies, keeping databases up to date;
- Manage the event’s main guest list: managing the guests list, collecting RSVPs and following up on queries if necessary;
- Liaise with sponsors, to agree on technical set-ups for the Q-day, access permissions, staff lists;
- Do follow-up post-event work: assist Events Manager liaising with suppliers, sponsors, finalise on site arrangements / pickups;
- Check stocks, update inventories and offer administrative support to the Corporate services team.
- Higher education degree (or currently enrolled in a higher education programme);
- Solid command of Romanian and English, both oral and written;
- Interest in British culture and events management;
- Good communication and organisational skills;
- Attention to detail;
- Very good IT proficiency (MS Office and Outlook).
- The ability and confidence to interact with contacts at all levels;
- Flexibility and possibility to adjust working hours.

This is a full-time position of 5 days (35 hours per week) for a fixed-term period of 10 weeks.
The internship period does not include any holiday allowance. Monthly salary is 1,450 RON gross.
The successful candidate will be subject to confirmation of a background check and security clearance, and satisfactory completion of a probationary period of one month.
Staff recruited locally by the British Embassy are subject to terms and conditions of service according to Romanian employment law.
