Description:

We are looking for a Xamarin software developer, to be part of Cegeka’s mobile team. The candidate should have a proven development experience in Xamarin. We would prefer someone who is flexible enough to work with both native and cross-platform technologies.

Requirements:

- Proven experience developing mobile apps in Xamarin
- Full understanding of mobile app lifecycle
- Reasonable knowledge of the general mobile architectures (iOS, Android and/or Windows mobile), trends, and emerging technologies
- Object oriented or functional programming and design patterns
- Experience in integrating apps with back ends (SOAP, REST, JSON, XML)
- Experience with Microsoft Azure and TFS is a plus
- Experience working with bug management and source control systems
- Learning oriented person
- Fluent in English, including the ability to express yourself in both in written and oral form
- Graduate of Computer Science/Cybernetics/Information Technology Faculty


Nice to have

- Awareness of the limitations, quirks and best practices with mobile devices
- Experience with build and distribution processes
- Unit testing and creating testable applications.
- Exposure to Agile development
- A GitHub account with a sample code is a plus

Responsibilities:

- Design and build high-quality mobile apps, as part of a distributed, multi-national team
- Work test-driven.
- Work with a continuous integration environment.
- Support the quality aspects required for a mobile app (performance, security, maintainability, etc.).
- Work in a cross-functional agile team
- Shape the functional requirements for the product (during backlog grooming)
- Analyze product descriptions to make technology choices and estimate workload
- Actively participate at improving the processes of the team; take initiatives and lead by example

Reading Groups

Description: A group of people from different teams in the company that are interested in certain subject choose a certain book and they start reading a chapter or two in their own free time and then they meet and discuss the chapters for an hour or two on company time. This happens until they finish the book. The discussions between chapters can include topics such as: What you understood, what you didn’t understood, maybe someone else can explain, what the most interesting thing you learned was, short practical exercises etc. This activity has a rather short time span – 1, 2 months.

Competency centers

Description: A group of interested people join together to explore a certain topic and actually build something. It can also be triggered by the company to learn, explore a certain topic (technology, methodology, framework) that we plan to invest in the future. The usual activities are research, reading books, discussions with each other and programming, developing projects. This type of activity should have as a concrete result and it can span a much larger period of time – several months, depending on the topic and its complexity.

Video sessions on Pluralsight

Description: This activity is similar to the Reading groups but it’s based on video courses on Pluralsight. Pluralsight benefits of a huge vireo courses library: The way this is put into practice is that an interested group of people choose a certain topic and they watch it together on company time. In our experience this is a very quick way of learning. The accounts are paid by the company and are landed to interested colleagues.


Events: process related – Agile/SCRUM/Kanban, coding oriented – TDD Kata

Description: We organize and facilitate events that can be both internal (only members of the company are participating) but also external (members from different companies participate). Such an event consists in coding, exercising Agile SCRUM/Kanban, food, beer & customized mugs or tee-shirts.
