Virtualization & Infrastructure Engineer

The company comprises 2 divisions specialized on its core capabilities: ENGINEERING and IT. These two divisions are: ALTEN TECHNO and ALTEN IT.

• The Virtualization and Infrastructure function fulfills one of the four main activities in the Operational Tool Environment (OTE) Department. The rest of the functions are Planning and Design, System Integration and 1st Level Assurance. The Virtualization and Infrastructure function in OTE is responsible of the end-to-end maintenance for the VMWare farm which runs the operational tools which monitor and measure the capacity and performance of the DCP platform.
• The Virtualization and Infrastructure engineer will work as a support engineer for the hardware, hypervisor, related network and storage elements, operating systems of the virtual machines. The ultimate purpose of the function is to maintain the functionality offered by the farm and to optimize and automate the tools running on top of this infrastructure from both virtualization and infrastructure perspective.
• Maintaining the functionality of the farm implies all the phases involved in the administration, capacity and planning, incident and problem management, deployment of new virtual machines, OS installation and maintenance, resource or service testing, acceptance, channel launch as-built elaboration, hand-over to service and/or resource Operations.

• Day-to-day maintenance activities on the network elements in charge.
• Improvement initiatives and active part of the OTE team in DCP.
• Function strategy accountable and responsible; planning the schedule for maintenance activities.
• Not expected to be 24/7; however has to be available for emergency events.
• Documentation (process documentation, implementation reports, etc).
• Interaction and exchange of information between functions; LCM,CM, site management, C&P to name a few.
Deployment Coordination & Execution:
- Ensure Release Package Integrity;
- Delivered Resources and Documentation Inspection;
- Report to stakeholders Release & Deployment Status;
- Coordinate Test Execution;
- Coordinate Deployment;
- Coordinate Change Introduction;
- As-Built Documentation Management;
- Update Configuration Database;
- New or Enhanced Interconnection Route Deployment.
• Application Testing and Validation Management:
- Functional Testing;
- System / Network Integration Testing;
- Performance Testing.
• End-user Solution Deployment:
- End-user Solution Deployment Project;
- End-user Solution Deployment Coordination and Execution;
- End-user Solution Testing;
- End-user Solution Handover and Acceptance.
• Inventory Database Management for own responsibility area.
• Change Management:
- Participate as a permanent member of the Change Advisory Board (CAB) or as an adhoc participant of the Emergency CAB (ECAB);
- Responsible to grant approval with the customer on changes that impacts the customer’s network and IS/IT infrastructure and MS Delivery;
- Coordinate customer participation on CAB and report change assessment status to the customer as per MS Governance Model.
• Efficiency improvement management:
- Continuously drive for efficiency, improvements and automation and excellence in service delivery.
